The Role of Director of Engineering Design and Construction, Middle East and Africa:

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Director of Engineering Design and Construction to join our Four Seasons Corporate Office team in Dubai!

This role reports to the SVP Design & Construction Dubai and the Vice President Engineering Design & Construction London and will be responsible for supporting and guiding the MEA owners/developers/consultants with design reviews, analysis, and operational feedback to develop new projects and maintain/renovate operating properties. You will also be responsible for formulating, implementing, and maintaining an innovative and cutting-edge engineering strategy in line with the company\xe2\x80\x99s vision and values using all relevant resources and respecting sustainable design criteria.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Review of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Life Safety system drawings and plans at key stages for all new developments.
• Report and track non-compliance conditions and deviations for key stakeholders\xe2\x80\x99 consideration and acceptance.
• To collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver a four seasons product.
• Provide design reviews of MEP, Security and Fire Life & Safety System designs and critical equipment, at key milestones, to ensure alignment throughout the D&C process with 4S Standards and/or any agreed variations.
• Know, maintain, and update the 4S MEP Engineering Standards, with input from existing 4S operations, to represent best current industry practice.
• Represent the 4S MEP Engineering Standards in all project work, including provision of appropriate value judgement in VE efforts.
• Identify continually unresolved problematic areas of MEP design, and through the Project Lead, and with VP Engineering.
• Assist the Director, Project Planning, in conjunction with the Project Leads, to monitor reporting of progress of projects, and identify significant variances.
• Assist Pre-Opening DOE to establish, with the Owners\xe2\x80\x99 teams, an appropriate T&C program and tracker system
• Assist Pre-Opening DOE to establish, guest room readiness tracker.
• Establish effective feedback process with Operations to receive post-mortem \xe2\x80\x9clessons learned\xe2\x80\x9d, for product and process improvements.
• To review latent defects with property DOE at regular intervals and update data base

Our Ideal Director of Engineering Design and Construction, Middle East and Africa candidate will have:

A masters degree in Engineering, or related field, a professional Engineers License, previous experience working in Middle East and Africa, and 10 \xe2\x80\x93 15 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in hotel and residential design and planning experience. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of hotel MEP systems design, related construction methods and materials, industry standards and practices, typical building code requirements, critical coordination aspects of MEP systems with hotel interiors, T&C practices, key Engineering operations aspects. Excellent written and oral communications skills and expertise in Excel, Acrobat, and basic AutoCAD.

This role requires a team player with strong leadership skills, the ability to convey subject matter expertise. Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, self-motivation, excellent critical thinking ability, can work on and prioritize multiple projects and adapt well to changing priorities, be a creative problem solver, have cultural sensitivity, and have exceptional communication skills and emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate through challenging situations with composure and professionalism.
