Work Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates Purpose Statement : This Director-level HEMA position will hold EMEA HEMA responsibility for all BSC’s divisions in the Growing Emerging Markets (GEM) region. This is a key leadership role, responsible for building a strong HEMA strategy that supports growth in GEM and establishing a best in class, high performing HEMA team in the region. This position reports to the Senior Director HEMA, EMEA.
Strategic Leadership
  • Collects business strategic inputs and elaborates them according to the local health care systems and current/future healthcare trends in order to define the HEMA regional strategy, objectives and resource needs.
  • Develops a HEMA operating plan for the GEM region and ensures its execution through Health Technology Assessments, market access initiatives and stakeholder engagement actions.
  • Directs the HEMA GEM team to prioritize, develop and implement reimbursement and funding activities working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Represents and promotes BSC with relevant stakeholders (Governmental bodies, structural funding and reimbursement bodies, C-suite, Health Technology Assessment bodies, Scientific societies, KOLs – both clinical (physicians) and non-clinical (Payers, Policy Makers etc.), through market access initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities, demonstrating clinical and Health Economics outcomes and contributing in the creation of innovative value propositions that demonstrate the value of BSC portfolio to the specific healthcare landscape in the GEM region
  • Leads HEMA funding efforts for the region. Coordinates internal resources efforts and/or external consultants where appropriate
  • Assesses reimbursement and funding opportunities and challenges across all BSC divisions and communicates business impact to senior management.

Performance Leadership
  • Effectively and autonomously engages and influences external stakeholders of the GEM region, participating in meetings and gathering their needs, to define with marketing/sales of the various divisions the best strategy and market access activities to address them.
  • Designs, communicates and is accountable for the execution of the funding/reimbursement/market access initiatives in the region, including priority initiatives, milestones, status, and timelines for completion.

Collaborative Leadership
  • Functions as a key member of the Growing Emerging Markets Leadership Team and EMEA HEMA Leadership Team,
  • Manages HEMA relationship with internal stakeholders (e.g. GEM Leadership Team, Sales leadership, Marketing, Clinical, Medical Affairs, etc.), providing Health Economics data/insights/capabilities
  • Reinforces institutional relationship/partnership and establishes/maintains a network of KOLs at regional level
  • Collaborates closely with EMEA Divisional HEMA Heads, identifying opportunities to leverage available tools, documents and resources as well as sharing strategies and best practices.

People Leadership
  • Leads a growing team of HEMA Managers/Senior Managers in the GEM region
  • Creates an environment of trust and collaboration within the team; Develops team members acting as a coach/mentor, supporting training & development activities; motivates through communication excellence & leading by example; develops plans, goals and objectives to ensure high levels of team/individual engagement and performance; recruits talent.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with other functions/countries, by ensuring the GEM HEMA team provides continuous support and delivers training/coaching to sales force, marketing, HS&P and other stakeholders.
  • Ensures a strong local talent succession pipeline for future HEMA Leadership in the GEM region

Position Requirements
  • Degree level education required in any subject; postgraduate qualification in health economics, statistics, public health epidemiology, public health or marketing highly desirable
  • Significant market access and stakeholder engagement experience ideally gained within the medical device or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Experience of developing and executing strategy successfully, with respect to market access activities and evidence planning, across multiple countries in EMEA essential
  • Proven ability and stature to influence and collaborate with key stakeholders internationally;
  • Highly commercial in approach; proven ability to combine technical excellence with commercial awareness
  • Previous leadership and team management experience; skilled at developing and coaching team members
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) essential. Other regional language ability advantageous
  • Position is based in Dubai, frequent travel to other countries in the GEM region required.
