Position Overview
Majid Al Futtaim is seeking a highly experienced Director - Data Governance to lead the development and execution of an enterprise-wide data governance strategy. This role will ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across all business units, embedding a culture of accountability and ownership for data as a strategic asset. The position offers an opportunity to shape policies, frameworks, and governance tools that will influence decision-making and operational efficiency group-wide.

What You'll Do

• Define and lead the group-wide data governance strategy, aligning it with business objectives, international standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Position data as a core strategic asset and drive cultural transformation towards ownership and accountability for data quality.
• Develop and maintain reporting and health monitoring dashboards for critical data elements, enabling proactive quality management.
• Oversee selection, implementation, and optimization of data governance platforms such as Collibra.
• Ensure effective integration of governance tools into upstream and downstream enterprise architecture and workflows.
• Maintain records of processing activities (RoPA) and support data audits and risk assessments.
• Lead implementation and management of enterprise-grade platforms including Collibra, Informatica, IBM InfoSphere, and Erwin.
• Provide expert guidance in data modelling, architecture, quality management, MDM, ETL processes, discovery, lineage, and reference data management.

Candidate Requirements

• 12-15 years of progressive data governance experience with a record of large-scale enterprise implementations.
• At least 4 years in a control or assurance function such as risk management, compliance, or internal audit.
• Industry background in retail, banking, or consulting with a strong understanding of sector-specific data issues.
• Proven ability to lead enterprise-level governance programs in complex, matrixed organizations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and executive stakeholder engagement skills.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to influence cross-functional teams.
