Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.
It is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with New Consumer Health. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.
Position Description: The Director, Compliance Officer AMET will lead and drive the Compliance program for the AMET cluster supporting multiple countries and clusters and oversight for the compliance program in South Africa. Strategic partner to the business leadership teams ensuring business practices and activities is following internal guidelines, local laws and regulations and anti-corruption laws including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other anti-corruption laws and regulations. The Director, Compliance Officer AMET will be an active member of the EMEA Compliance leadership team and serve on the business leadership teams representing the Compliance and Ethics function. The Director, Compliance Officer AMET will be responsible for driving compliance strategies at the country and regional level and providing input to the Global Leadership team on strategic and operational initiatives.
They will be the internal compliance expert to senior leaders and key stakeholders on external programs, exercising judgment to mitigate business risk, and managing the allocation of resources to support business initiatives and enterprise projects.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Manages the Compliance team and coordinates resources to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the Compliance Programs.
  • Assists in developing global compliance strategies and translating these for implementation at the local level, based on local needs, goals and objectives, considering local external regulatory trends and environment
  • Responsible for talent acquisition, coaching and staff development. Includes close collaboration with the cluster and country leadership teams, as well as country Compliance Officers
  • Builds partnerships with senior business management including Company Managing Directors and Regional Leaders to ensure they drive compliance within their organizations
  • Ensures the Compliance Program framework and controls effectively prevent and/or detect violation of law, regulations, or policies, and appropriate corrective action as needed
  • Advises country and cluster management teams and ensures informed business decisions regarding compliance matters. Reports compliance program status to Country and Regional Leadership Teams.
  • Co-Chair Country Compliance Committee
  • Ensure team is aligned to overall vision, key priorities and deliverables. Enable a team culture of innovation, accountability, development and constant learning. Develop high functioning team through talent and skill development through recruitment, training and coaching of team members.
  • Handles ongoing risk management and assesses areas of compliance risk, establishes appropriate Management Action Plans (MAPs) and ensures routine reviews of those MAPs with appropriate escalation – as needed
  • Handles investigations when assigned by the Litigation team
  • Oversees the implementation of appropriate monitoring programs and tracking mechanisms
  • In consultation with the Human Resources Department and the Law Department helps to ensure there is consistent disciplinary mechanism in place for noncompliance (including the failure to prevent, detect, or report any noncompliance), appropriate to the nature and extent of the deviation, and ensure consistency in the application of disciplinary action
  • Works with industry associations and other external organizations to develop industry policies and standards in close cooperation with other cluster/country COs, to help shape the external environment

Qualifications
Position Requirements:
  • Minimum of BA/BS required
  • Minimum of 10 years business and/or compliance-related experience, including a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in HCC or related compliance function
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, policies, standards, financial or auditing practices and company business and policies. Knowledge about industry associations
  • Ability to lead project teams across multiple business units and functions
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and influence senior leaders and key stakeholders on business initiatives and complex compliance issues
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships and working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of organization based on an understanding of their concerns, needs and motivations
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Ability to analyze data and trends, and communicate complex information to all levels of the company
  • Knowledge of commercial sales and marketing practices for healthcare products, Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and services and the related compliance risks
  • Demonstrated experience with TPI relationships is required

Preferred Competencies:
  • MBA or any other advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in the development and/or implementation of a compliance program in accordance with an organization's risk profile
  • Experience working with governmental regulatory bodies, and/or managing Compliance company policies
