Biotechnology Research Center
BRC is established to contribute to UAE research priorities across several emerging fields, utilizing molecular, cellular and digital technologies to develop the human expertise and biotech sovereignty of the emirates. BRC is addressing unmet needs in advanced bio-robotics, in environmental applications such as new desalination and agricultural technologies, and it aims to enable better healthcare outcomes through molecular and genomic strategies, and AI enhanced bioinformatics and biomedicine.
As Director in our Bio-medicine group, your main responsibilities will be:
Biotechnology Research Center

BRC is addressing unmet needs in advanced bio-robotics, in environmental applications such as new desalination and agricultural technologies, and it aims to enable better healthcare outcomes through molecular and genomic strategies, and AI enhanced bioinformatics and biomedicine.
As Director in our Bio-medicine group, your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop and oversee the R&D for Biomedical / BioMedicine focus area of the Biotech Research Center at TII
- Assist the VP/ED in that focus area to develop and manage the use case roadmap of BioMed.
- Identify and participate in the recruitment of high-potential national and international collaborators
- Participate in in-depth scientific exchange, thorough evaluation of use case proposals, and potential deal-making with academic and industrial partners.
- Liaise with relevant experts to evaluate the value-proposition for incoming and emerging opportunities
- Develop a relevant national professional network to identify research opportunities and talents. Access existing network to recruit international talents
- Actively contribute to sustaining/developing the Abu Dhabi biotech ecosystem, through organization/participation in workshops and conferences
- Develop state-of-the-art technologies in medical imaging, wearable technologies, IoMT, biosensors and patient monitoring, combined with machine learning techniques to identify novel ways of improving quality of life and life expectancy
- Represent TII in relevant National and International scientific forums
- Establish National and International academic partnerships and partnerships with research institutes
- Initiate and contribute to the production of scientific publications and reports for TII/ATRC stakeholders
- Promote a safe and intellectually stimulating work environment for all lab members.
- Efficiently communicate objective and key performance metrics to team members and ensure compliance with lab rules and ethics
- Contribute to facility design, equipment, workflow, and software selection
- Collegially contribute to BRC strategic decisions regarding research projects and long-term planning
- PhD in required field: Biotechnoloy, Life sciences, Health Science/Clinical Pathology, or equivalent
- 10+ Years of Experience (incl. PhD and Post doc years), including 5+ as research lead / PI or similar research management position.
- Familiarity with HealthTech / Medtech / IoMT development cycle, industry and academic partnership and IP development.
- Ideally, some prior experience in industry, in a leadership position
