Digital Urbanism Consultant

Dubai, UAE

This exciting opportunity requires a dynamic and innovative professional to lead and develop Parsons' expanding advisory services into technology and how it can improve urban living in UAE and KSA. The role includes the delivery of a technically complex advisory project in the smart city sector and will demand a candidate with a track record of leading teams to deliver whole lifecycle projects from strategic advisory through to implementation.

An extensive knowledge of the smart city ecosystem and how it relates to sustainable urban living, improved quality of life and city operations is essential. An appreciation of trends and developments across the technology sector is required. The candidate should be able to work as part of a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team to develop visions and concepts into masterplans and solutions. Expertise in data governance and data privacy is required.

The role is based in UAE but may involve travel throughout the Middle East.

What You'll Be Doing:

As part of the Smart Cities delivery organization, lead digital urbanism activities on a major and iconic urban development project in Saudi Arabia

Lead the development of data governance for all smart city related services

Plan and hold interface workshops with a range of stakeholders including clients, interfacing projects, and discipline SME's representing all sectors

Provide support to smart city projects across the Middle East

Work with the regional smart cities practice to identify and develop client relationships to drive growth in the region

Manage project teams with a range of expertise, in particular to mentor junior staff into more senior roles.

Lead and support tender responses for smart city initiatives and related fields as part of larger programmes of work.

Represent Parsons at relevant industry events

Establish strong working relationships with other technical teams (master planning, sustainability, energy, water, etc) and related entities in order to build capacity and share knowledge/strategies

Serve as an internal and external subject matter expert for smart city offerings, with a focus on ICT infrastructure, data centres and command and control facilities

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Frequent regional and global travel will be required.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Bachelor degree in a technology / engineering related field

Minimum 10 years successful experience in managing the delivery of various technology-driven advisory projects, with a special emphasis on Middle East region

Demonstrable experience in providing advisory services in data governance, urbanism and smart city projects

Awareness of global and regional industry trends, particularly in the acquisition, use and storage of data

Proven ability to work in a customer facing and consulting environment.

Demonstrable experience working and leading multi-disciplinary and geographically distributed teams

As a recognized professional in the smart cities industry, the candidate shall be the representative of Parsons at public forums/events; preferred candidates will have proven experience of publishing thought pieces, journal papers and possess extensive experience presenting at industry relevant conferences and events

Identification of new areas of work, to keep ahead of industry trends identifying opportunities to diversify the portfolio and disrupt the industry

Ability to prepare reports and presentations in a clear and concise manner and have the ability to pay careful attention to details

The candidate shall have excellent project management and communication skills
