Who we are ASE is a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering firm located in Clearwater, Florida. We specialize in design services for low-humidity spaces and industrial/pharmaceutical cleanrooms. We also design HVAC systems for all different types of buildings including but not limited to hospitals, medical office buildings, assisted living facilities, public schools, city and county buildings, airports, hotels and restaurants, and other types of commercial buildings.

What does my position look like? As a Designer, you will be responsible for designing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for various building projects. These systems include HVAC and plumbing primarily, however you may be asked to assist in other departments like electrical and fire protection. In this position, you will develop the concepts and designs for the mechanical systems inside the buildings, utilizing different types of software like AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace 700, and Energy Gauge. You will work closely with the Design Team Leaders in producing final drawings and completing design tasks in order to deliver a complete set of drawings to our clients. As your knowledge and experience grows, your responsibilities will also grow. Our expectation is that this person will ultimately be able to independently manage small to mid-size projects under the supervision of a professional engineer.

Am I qualified? What is required? Qualified candidates will possess a BS in engineering or have 2+ years design experience in an Architectural and/or Engineering environment. Candidates with experience designing mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems is preferred. The right person will be a student of the profession, hungry to learn new skills and knowledge in MEP design and engineering. This person must be driven and independent, with a personal desire to deliver the best product and service to the client. This person will be willing to work the hours required to get the job done and deliver the project to the client on time. This person must show their ability to efficiently plan and prioritize the work, demonstrate success working with a team of professionals, practice good communication skills both verbal and written, and display a positive work ethic. This person will be also be working alongside other trade professionals, both inside and outside of ASE, thus you must like working in an open and collaborative team environment. Additionally, this person will be attending site visits and client meetings outside of the office, so anyone looking for a "desk job" need not apply. Travelling is required - while most of our travelling is by car locally, there may be overnight trips for projects outside of the state or for projects that require more than a one day visit.

What other experience and/or skills do I need? We work heavily in AutoCAD, so you must be comfortable with independent use of it on day one. Experience in Revit is desired but not required. We utilize Microsoft Office for our email and document creation, as well as Adobe for document creation and viewing. We work on PC's in a network environment, so knowledge of network navigation and file management is helpful. Trane Trace 700 and Energy Gauge are utilized for load and energy modeling and code compliance, thus working knowledge of these programs is preferred but not required.
