- 'Design Lead' - Dubai Based - Site Based Overview: Our Dubai-based office team requires an experienced Design Lead to join the team, assisting in delivering a prestigious Super-Regional Shopping Mall (> 100,000 sqm GLA) in Dubai during the construction phase of the project. The Design Lead's objective is to fulfill the role of Technical Advisor / Design Guardian, ensuring the delivery of the design vision of the Design Architect on-site throughout the construction phase. The Design Lead will be a pivotal part of the project delivery team working closely with the client's development team, delivery team and PMC team. The Design Lead will also be required to liaise with the Clients Leasing Team on the Change Management of Lease Outline Diagrams and the impact on the building general assembly drawings, Architecturally, with MEP and with Engineering. Should design matters need to be escalated, these would be through the Client's Development team and the Design Architects based in the United States. The Design Lead will need to possess in depth knowledge and skills to develop quick solutions that are practical, effective, sustainable, and appropriate to this region in delivering the overall design intent. Instances will require design innovation and creativity in the on-site environment. In addition to technical strengths, we require the candidate to demonstrate strong leadership, influencing and communication skills to lead and manage large teams and stakeholders.
General Responsibilities: Working with the Director of Architecture & Design, this role offers a great variety of opportunities and will see you involved in;

• To successfully manage clients and other significant internal and external stakeholders concerning the above.
• Agreeing on job work packages, budget and progress monitoring with other team leaders.
• Leading and chairing design coordination meetings and interdisciplinary checks with the project team related to the above.
• Communicating SID "Safety in Design" principles throughout the design process.
• Monitoring ISO 9001 Quality Assurance Structure throughout projects.
• Ability to support the project team in obtaining local authority approvals.
• Coordinate with the GHD head office design team when additional design work is required to accommodate changes.
• Review and approve the development of fit-out-related designs and detailed engineering works performed by Designers or engineering contractors.
• Perform design integrity reviews and ensure recommendations are implemented as necessary.
• Ensure Value Engineering and Value Management applications and cost-effective solutions are incorporated at all stages of project execution.
• Lead other design consultants to the most viable design by applying Value Engineering and Value Management during the construction stage while embodying design intent to achieve an optimized, practical design.
• Review and approve the technical construction method statements for key elements/packages, and drive this with all Stakeholders.
• Leading the progress in compliance with the project requirements, including the Design Vision, and coordinating fully with Senior Managers to achieve the target KPIs on the scheduled time.

What you will bring to the team:

• Bachelor of Architecture
• Minimum 3 years of experience with project delivery on site
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Architectural Design pre-construction
• Minimum 3 Years of experience in Shopping Mall Design
• Minimum 3 Years of Middle East experience and working knowledge of design and construction and authority requirements as well as practices specific to the Middle Eastern Gulf region
• Passion for implementing and delivering practical architectural and interior design
• A great ability to provide direction through hand sketches and other mediums to successfully convey design solutions to the wider team
• Design experience from concept through to construction
• Proven track record of delivering design projects on time and within budget
• Extensive experience in preparing or understanding design briefs, fee proposals and negotiating contracts with both subcontractors / sub-consultants
• High work performance and excellent people skills .
