Job Purpose

Provide assistance in the design of baseline modifications and design basis control and maintenance. Participate in verifying that design integrity is maintained through effective configuration control of design output documents (i.e., specifications, calculations, drawings, test requirements, and procedures) for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) as per the regulatory requirements, operating policies and principles, nuclear standards for nuclear safety, industrial safety, and environmental protection, to ensure overall Design Change objectives are achieved.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Participate in the development of permanent design modifications, including business cases and cost benefit analyses, to plant systems, components, and structures to maintain and improve plant reliability and safety.
  • Provide support in the management of functional locations and equipment master database to ensure accurate plant records for safety and maintainability.
  • Provide support to the configuration management process to keep the plant in configuration control.
  • Participate in performing acceptance reviews and preparation of design changes packages and support the design change committee to keep modifications prioritized and well communicated.
  • Support the unit start-up test, Power Ascension Test (PAT), to identify any possible engineering issues.
  • Update engineering documents and data to maintain accurate and useful records.
  • Support the creation of plant equipment and process set point lists to keep it current.
  • Participate in developing cost-effective modification design change packages, in accordance with defined standards and procedures, when required to improve plant, system or equipment performance.
  • Participate in providing technical support to operations, maintenance, engineering, and other plant and central organizations as required to solve technical issues
  • Participate in identifying and effectively resolving issues via the corrective action and work management processes to support safe, reliable operation.
  • Provide support in the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) operational peer reviews to align to industrial best practices.
  • Participate in identifying potential cyber-security items to the Cyber-Security Action team within I&C Design Engineering to ensure the items\' proper evaluation.
  • Participate in design seismic qualification reviews and specification development to build familiarity with the process for ensuring consistency with seismic program requirements
  • Participate in the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) change impact assessment to gain familiarity in the process for ensuring that design changes are consistent with the requirements of the FSAR.
  • Support the execution of the Structural Monitoring Program to ensure that current conditions are well understood in support of long-term operation and maintenance decisions (For Civil Design Only).
  • Perform technical reviews and analysis of proposed software configuration management change items to track and control versions of application programs used for BNPP operation, design and analysis (For I&C Design Only).

Staff Training and Qualification
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Provide feedback on training program effectiveness using operator performance evaluation to enhance the quality of the training and qualification program.
  • Participate in training to equip necessary technical knowledge and skills.

Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Support outage and/or the ERO, as assigned, to ensure safe, reliable and continued operations; this may require shift work/off hours support.

  • APPU-ENG-IT-QC2001-SE.
Minimum
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related Science.
  • 2 years of relevant experience

Or equivalent as stated in the Procedure (HR-PRC-0004).

Preferred
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • APR-1400 or OPR-1000 maintenance and engineering experience.
