Parsons is now hiring a Design Engineer who works on infrastructure projects that change the fabric of our community. We need our engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team oriented environment and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills. In this role plan and design structures and facilities such as bridges, railroads, roads, airports, harbors, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, tunnels, power plants and other projects. Analyzes proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Performs a variety of engineering duties and may identify as sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering such as: geotechnical, municipal/urban, water resources, materials and/or coastal engineering. Job Responsibilities:
  • Review of technical specifications and shop drawings in line with client / local authority requirements and international standards.
  • Validate design implementation issues related to structure and suggest alternative alternative solutions.
  • Preparation of scope of work, bill of quantities related to all civil and structural system and activities.
  • Review contractor’s deliverables including general arrangement for compliance with the design intent and return with appropriate comments / approval within the specified contractual period.
  • Review contractor’s architectural, interior, civil and structural shop drawing in conjunction with the MEP engineers to ensure engineering co-ordination and advise accordingly.
  • Review contractor’s material approvals requests along with samples against specified technical performance requirements and advise on the appropriateness of the proposals.
  • Review contractor’s proposed sub-contractor(s) associated with the engineering works from a technical standpoint.
  • Attend site inspection, third party testing, sampling and coordination with authority in obtaining required approvals.
  • Provide support to the project department and field engineering to resolve contractor technical queries and resultant field changes, where required prepare technical clarifications to the tendered design to suit specific on-site construction and co-ordination issues.
  • Review of Permit To Work (PTW) documents including method of statements and Risk Assessment in co-ordination with HSE.
  • Attending Material Inspection Request (MIR) raised by contractor and verifying material if is as per approved material / project specifications.
  • Attending Work Inspection Request (WIR) raised by contractor at site to ensure execution works is being carried out in accordance with the approved construction drawings, contract documents, project specifications, and all applicable standards whether local, national or international standards
Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in design and site supervision of buildings and infrastructure projects, ideally within an engineering consulting firm.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills, English and Arabic is preferred
  • Ability to participate in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural engineering team.
  • Design software experience required to perform civil / structural calculations for developing design drawings.
  • Experience in detailed design, construction and handing over of building and infrastructure projects.
  • Brown field projects experience including refurbishment works is an added advantage.
