The purpose of this position is to safely and reliably shunt the trains in Depot and engineering vehicles on mainline and in Depots.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Report for duty fully prepared and drive the train and EV safely and reliably.
• Communicate with Depot Controller, Workshop Person In charge and other key members of concerned departments while moving the trains, EV Depot and Mainline.
• Comply fully with procedures and work instructions as part of the certified training and induction courses for train drivers.
• Enforce safety procedures and instructions and carry out necessary procedures to ensure the safety in the railway.
• Operate Train and EV (Unimog, Light Diesel Tractor, Shunting Vehicle, Rerailing Vehicle, Track Grinding Machine, Geometry Recording Lorry etc) in all operating modes in the assigned area as required.
• Perform duties in shift and to be ready for emergency duties when required.
• Perform and carry out other duties as instructed / directed by the Depot Shunting Team Leader and Rolling Stock Engineer.
• Carryout EV operation under the supervision of RSTL/DETL when required.
• Carryout Train operation under the supervision of DC/TC when required.
• Perform duties as Train Attendant as and when required.
• Ensure compliance with the Keolis-MHI Management System and all relevant business.
• processes, procedures and work instructions to deliver all work with appropriate quality and governance standards.
• Ensure security and integrity of all data provided including reporting performance, finance and customer information; reference Keolis-MHI non-disclosure policy.
• To exercise personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare and for those affected by their acts or omissions; reference SMS GSOP-HSE1-6 Keolis-MHI organisational HSE responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance with all training requirements of Keolis-MHI and ensure adherence to these requirements at all times whilst in employment.
• Report any accidents, incidents, breaches or potential breaches to appropriate management or the speak up process.

KEY SKILLS

• Must be capable of handling the minor train and EV faults (which need simple resetting or isolation of faulty system).
• Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision.
• A mature, proactive and responsible approach to work with initiative and problem solving capability.
• Ability to liaise in a professional and persuasive manner with staff at all levels in the organisation.
• Good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Holder of a valid U.A.E. driving license with good driving skills and experience is desirable.

EXPERIENCES

• Experience of driving passengers Train and Engineering Vehicles (EV) in a safe manner according to prescribed routes is desirable.
• Must have a clear understanding of setting direction (normal/reverse) of points, routes and shunt signal (On and off aspect).
• Experience and understanding of basic function of train and EV systems like Propulsion, Auxiliary Power Supply, Brake, Air Conditioning, Train Control and Monitoring System, different indicators, isolation switches and buttons on driver console is desirable.

EDUCATIONNAL QUALIFCATIONS

• Ideally a degree holder or higher diploma of post-secondary education in a related discipline.
