Depot Operations Engineer - Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) - Dubai, UAE
Position Overview
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is looking for a Depot Operations Engineer to manage and supervise depot operations, ensuring bus readiness, safety compliance, and efficient use of resources. The role includes monitoring fuel supply and consumption, overseeing maintenance activities, and implementing health and safety standards. The successful candidate will contribute to operational planning, budget monitoring, and performance evaluation to support the smooth running of daily bus operations.

Core Duties

• Supervise and monitor fuel procurement, supply, and consumption in alignment with budget plans
• Build and maintain strong relationships with fuel supply partners
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure maximum efficiency of buses
• Identify and address mechanical issues affecting bus operations, proposing corrective actions
• Develop and enforce depot health and safety procedures in line with RTA policy
• Contribute to depot budget preparation and ensure adherence to financial plans
• Represent the depot in engineering matters including vehicle specification reviews
• Conduct technical studies and benchmarks to improve operational efficiency and minimize troubleshooting
• Prepare and present progress reports on depot project plans to management
• Ensure availability and readiness of buses for daily schedules, checking electronic and mechanical systems
• Remain available 24/7 to handle emergencies and crises when required
• Monitor depot KPIs and provide technical and engineering support to depot management
• Support performance planning and reviews for depot staff, including officers and supervisors

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field from a recognized university
• Knowledge of depot operations, mechanical systems, and maintenance planning
• Experience in operational performance monitoring and resource management is an advantage
• Strong communication and reporting skills
• Problem-solving ability with capability to act in high-pressure situations
• Strong awareness of safety policies and compliance standards
