The Denter/Welder is responsible for repairing, restoring, and fabricating metal components on heavy trucks and trailers. This includes dent removal, welding, bodywork repairs, and reinforcement of truck structures to ensure safety, durability, and compliance with company standards. Denter/welder is also responsible for carrying out repairs in a safe and high standard manner, being flexible in scope of work allocated.
Operational Responsibilities
:
Diagnose and perform repairs.
Assess and repair dents, scratches, and body damage on heavy trucks and trailers.
Perform panel beating, shaping, and alignment of vehicle body parts.
Replace or repair damaged body panels, doors, bumpers, and fenders.
Fabricate and modify metal components as per vehicle requirements.
Ensure proper surface preparation before painting or coating.
Conduct inspections to assess the extent of body or structural damage.
Identify and report additional repairs needed.
Perform VHC and secure approval from team leader for additional work and/or parts replacement, which may be required.
Maintain tools and equipment neatly and in good operating condition.
Maintain records of repairs, materials used, and time spent on each task.
Report loss, breakage, and faults to team leader who in turn will report to the workshop manager or after sales manager.
Update the team leader on the job status, timing updates, and ensure ahead of time if job completion deadline cannot be achieved.
Safety & Compliance:
Use PPE/Safety equipment provided by the company and notify the team leader immediately of any unsafe practices observed in the workshop team leader.
Follow all safety protocols when using welding and denting equipment.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Knowledge, Qualifications & Skills required:
Minimum of 2 years' proven experience as a Denter/Welder in heavy truck maintenance
Relevant technical training and/or certification
Good communication skills to report issues and collaborate with the workshop team
Able to read, write and communicate in English
Logical thinker with solid problem-solving attributes
Able to work under own initiative
Skilled automotive technical abilities
Competent to understand and follow specified policy and procedures
Relevant technical training and/or certification
Excellent in verbal, read and written English communication
