The Data Scientist supports the Office of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness (OIPE) by developing descriptive, predictive and prescriptive models using machine learning algorithms, conducting statistical analyses to support decision-making for higher management, and providing recommendations, based on data analytics, to improve the efficiency and performance of various units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Analysis / Data Engineering: Collect, clean, and preprocess data for analysis.
ML Modeling: Develop predictive and prescriptive models using machine learning algorithms.
Statistical Analysis: Conduct statistical analyses to support decision-making and solve business problems.
Business Intelligence: Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights. Also, create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively.
Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for various stakeholders.
Prepare reports and presentations for management.
Communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Take initiatives to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and performance of various units at AU through in-depth data analysis.
Support other members of OIPE as directed by the Executive Director of OIPE.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor\'s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field is required. However, a Master\'s degree is preferred for this position.
The applicant must have at least four years\' experience as a data scientist or in a similar role.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R.
Proficiency in using data analysis and machine learning libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, sci-kit-learn, TensorFlow, Colab, \xe2\x80\xa6).
Proficiency in utilizing data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Tableau, MS Power BI, or other related tools).
Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
Project management experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working Relationships & Subordinates: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
