Job Description
Role Purpose:
Boost business`s ability to make data-driven decisions. Data Science Manager is responsible for leveraging data science and machine learning capabilities for internal business stakeholders. He/She will also provide technical expertise to colleagues and data scientists team members. Develops key predictive models and products and manages team of Data Scientists to deliver local demand use cases. Engages with senior stakeholders across the business to advise and solve complex problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes, leads, and mentors a team of Data Scientists.
- Identifying business opportunities to make a commercial difference.
- leads the development of analytics initiatives to meet business requirements
- Translates complex datasets into strategic insights for the business and communicates simply to non-technical audiences, visualising results, to create understanding and solution buy-in.
- Recognised as an expert in the community, mentoring and advising colleagues on statistical techniques, algorithms and data sources.
- Works closely with Technology teams to design, build, test, deploy, maintain and improve technology solutions and models.
- Identifies new analytics trends and opportunities to drive the innovation agenda across business functions & Advanced Analytics.
- Spread Design Thinking and Agile methodologies
Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD (or equivalent) in quantitative fields like Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or Engineering
- Minimum number of years of relevant experience with a focus on advanced analytics and predictive modelling.
- Proficient in statistical packages and ML libraries (e.g. R, Python SciPy and NLTK, Spark MLlib, SAS)
- Familiar with leading visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire)
- Familiar with implementing data transformations and algorithms in common programming languages
- Strong communication skills with prior experience communicating analytics results to senior management
