The Credit Controller is responsible for managing the company's outstanding receivables. This role ensures that customers pay on time, overdue debts are minimized, and cash flow remains strong. The Credit Controller also maintains accurate records of all credit transactions and works closely with sales, customer service, and finance teams to resolve issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payments
Chase outstanding invoices via calls, emails, and formal letters
Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies
Evaluate new credit requests and conduct credit checks
Set and review customer credit limits based on financial analysis
Maintain accurate records of credit transactions and communications
Generate regular reports on accounts receivable and aging analysis
Work with sales and customer service teams to resolve disputes
Escalate problematic accounts to legal or external collection agencies if necessary
Assist with month-end closing and reporting as needed
Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Good understanding of credit risk and financial analysis
Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally, QuickBooks)
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
2-5 years of experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g., credit terms, collections)
Experience with ERP systems is an advantage
