The Crane & Rigging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of cranes and rigging activities within a marine logistics company. This role involves supervising crane operations both onshore and offshore, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing the rigging crew, and maintaining equipment in optimal condition. The Crane & Rigging Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of lifting and rigging operations, maintaining safety standards, and achieving operational objectives.
Supervise and coordinate all crane and rigging activities within the marine logistics company, both onshore and offshore.
Ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations, industry best practices, and company policies during all lifting and rigging operations.
Plan and organize lifting operations, including determining the appropriate cranes and rigging equipment, selecting lifting points, and calculating load capacities.
Conduct pre-operation checks and inspections of cranes and rigging equipment to ensure they are in proper working condition and meet safety standards.
Provide guidance and direction to the rigging crew, ensuring adherence to safe working practices, efficient operation of equipment, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Monitor the performance of crane operators and riggers, provide training and coaching as necessary, and conduct performance evaluations.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to plan and execute lifting and rigging activities in line with project requirements and schedules.
Review lift plans, method statements, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring safe and effective execution of lifting operations.
Maintain accurate records of all lifting and rigging activities, including equipment inspections, maintenance records, and incident reports.
Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among the rigging crew.
Collaborate with the procurement department to ensure the availability of required cranes, rigging equipment, and consumables for operations.
Manage the maintenance and repair of cranes and rigging equipment, coordinating with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to crane and rigging operations, incorporating best practices into operations.
Monitor and control costs associated with crane and rigging activities, including equipment maintenance, repairs, and procurement of consumables.
Promote environmental stewardship by ensuring proper waste management, spill prevention, and adherence to environmental regulations during lifting and rigging operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Additional certifications or technical training in crane operations and rigging are preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in crane operations and rigging, preferably in the marine logistics industry.
Valid certifications for operating various types of cranes, such as mobile cranes, tower cranes, or offshore pedestal cranes.
In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices for crane operations and rigging.
Proven experience in supervising and leading a team of crane operators and riggers in lifting operations.
Strong technical understanding of different types of cranes, rigging equipment, and lifting accessories.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines to the rigging crew.
Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, developing lift plans, and implementing safety measures in lifting and rigging operations.
Familiarity with maintenance and inspection procedures for cranes and rigging equipment, ensuring compliance with maintenance schedules and safety standards.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capability to handle emergencies and unforeseen situations.
