Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer will support the AMZ Cost Exec. Team in monitoring and managing project costs across multiple large-scale construction sites. This role focuses on cost data review, reporting, variance analysis, and supporting value engineering initiatives to ensure cost efficiency and accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:



Cost Report Reviews:


Support the preparation and review of Project Cost Reports for accuracy and completeness. Identify and investigate cost variances between actuals, forecasts, and budgets.

KPI Monitoring:


Update and maintain Cost Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at project and portfolio levels. Prepare and distribute regular reports highlighting key trends and performance against targets.

Cost Data Analysis:


Review cost data from internal teams, contractors, and other stakeholders. Identify inconsistencies, variances, or anomalies and escalate issues where necessary.

Final Accounts:


Support the preparation of Final Account Reports per project, ensuring all financial aspects are closed accurately and in compliance with company standards.

Value Engineering:


Compile and analyze Value Engineering data across projects, categorized by miles and regions. Support the identification of cost-saving opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Change Management:


Track and report on project changes, including the number, value, root causes, and emerging trends. Provide clear, data-driven insights to support decision-making.

Collaboration & Reporting:


Work closely with project teams, cost leads, finance, and other stakeholders to ensure data alignment. Support the preparation of presentations and reports for senior management.

Key Deliverables

Reviewed Project Cost Reports


Regular reviews with variance analysis and commentary on deviations vs. budget/forecast.

Cost KPI Dashboards & Updates


Periodic updates of cost performance indicators across projects and regions. Variance & Data Analysis Reports. Detailed reports highlighting cost variances, root causes, and recommended actions.

Final Account Reports


Comprehensive final cost summaries per project, aligned with contractual and internal requirements.

Value Engineering Reports


Consolidated VE data per mile/region, identifying savings and optimization opportunities.

Change Reports & Trend Analysis


Regular reports on number, value, and drivers of changes, with trend tracking over time.

Stakeholder Cost Data Reviews


Validation and feedback on cost information received from contractors, consultants, and internal teams.

Management Reporting Packs


Clear and concise presentations or dashboards for senior management decision-making.

Requirements



Start Date: Jan 1, 2026 Technical Assessment needed ?: Yes

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Cost Engineering, or a related f ield. Minimum 5 years of experience in cost management on large construction projects (e.g., infrastructure, industrial, commercial).

Strong understanding of cost control processes, budget forecasting, and financial reporting. Proficiency in cost reporting tools, spreadsheets (Excel), and project cost systems. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Familiarity with value engineering and change management processes is a plus. Software / programs / tools:

Excel High level (Macros preparation). / BIM360/
