Job Description
Job Summary: The Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing the end to end process of inventory from the point of receiving to issuance and consumption of the product. This role will be responsible for arriving at the finish product cost and account for the cost of all items sold both produced and bought. The role is also responsible for accounting of promotions and highlighting the margins impact from any discounting offers. The incumbent works closely with the Production and Logistics team together with the Operations team, hence will be expected to spend most of the time in the Production & Warehouse Facility. Key Accountabilities: Inventory Movement Management
- Reviewing the process of receiving and dispatching of inventories and ensuring that all items received from the suppliers are recorded in the system.
- Planning, Studying, and Collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
- Ensuring that the inventories dispatch for consumption are accounted for in the system.
- Coordinating monthly inventory stock count at all location.
- Preparing and share with management stocks reports indicating risk of short expiries or OOS.
- Reviewing the existing recipes and costing of the materials to arrive at ideal standard cost.
- Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost.
- Making estimates of new and proposed product costs.
- Analysis, spending variances and efficiency variances.
- Analyzing distribution cost, inventory cost, manpower cost, manufacturing cost and marketing cost.
- Reviewing standard cost on a Quarterly Basis and updating where necessary.
- Working with the financial analyst and marketing team in costing of promotion to arrive at the ideal promo price.
- Responsible for driving and posting of cost of finished product sold.
- Calculating and posting of packaging and any other non raw material inventory cost.
- Review and accounting for wastage/throw away at all locations and providing the commentaries on the drivers of this.
- Costing of the overall Production, Stores and Warehouse operation and ensuring that this cost is accounted for correctly in the P&L.
- Driving the discipline of ensuring all material inventories are fully accounted for.
- Costing for all promotional items and highlighting the margin impact from any discount offered.
- Monitoring of the consumption in Production to ensure that the set recipes are followed during production.
- Monitoring and reporting wastage at Production and ensuring that any production wastage is accounted for in the monthly P&L.
- Conducting random inventory count.
