Job Description

1. JOB PURPOSE:

Manage and lead all aspects of the company\'s corporate tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities. Ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations and optimizing our tax strategy. Manage tax risk and contributing to the financial success of the Company.

2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities
  • Manage and coordinate all corporate tax compliance activities, including preparation and review of related tax returns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax payments.
  • Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues unique to the oil and gas industry, such as depletion allowances and specialized deductions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather financial data necessary for tax calculations and reporting.
  • Review and analyse financial statements and transactions to identify tax implications and opportunities for optimization.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize the company\'s tax liabilities while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitor changes in oil and gas tax laws and regulations and proactively communicate their impact to relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead the ADNOC responses to tax audits and inquiries related to oil and gas operations, working with external auditors and tax authorities.
  • Provide guidance and support to the finance team on tax-related matters.
  • Ensure accurate and organized documentation of tax-related information.
Generic Accountabilities

Management
  • Plan and supervise the activities of the personnel and resources of the Department to achieve the Division objectives in an efficient and cost-conscious manner while ensuring implementation of approved operational plans for the Department in line with Division objectives.
  • Develop the knowledge, competencies and innovative spirit in the Department and support the establishment of Personal Development Plans (PDP\xe2\x80\x99s), Succession Planning and Talent pipeline within the Department in coordination with the Human Capability Group to continuously develop employees with emphasis on UAE Nationals to meet Emiratization targets.
Budgets and Operational Plans
  • Compile and provide input for preparation of the Division budgets and regularly monitor expenditure against approved the Department budget levels.
  • Investigate, highlight and reconcile any significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
  • Lead the implementation of approved Department policies, processes, systems, standards, procedures and internal controls in order to support execution of the Division work programs in line with Company and International standards.
Performance Management
  • Implement the Company Performance Management System for individuals within the Department in accordance with Company approved guidelines and continuously monitor the achievement of the Department KPIs related to the approved Annual Performance Management Contract and the Balanced Score Card.
Organisation Structure and Development
  • Review, develop and recommend the appropriate organisation structure for the Department that will best utilise human capital while proactively incorporating sustainability into the on-going work practices to meet the business objectives.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Encourage innovation, enhance employee motivation and support initiatives for implementation of Change Management to continuously improve operations and services.
  • Propose improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the Department.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
  • Support the institution of an HSE culture and ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, systems & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines across the Department in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
  • Ensure adequate HSE training and induction for all Department employees to meet HSE standards.
Management Information Systems (MIS) and Reports
  • Prepare all Department MIS and progress reports to provide accurate and timely reports and necessary information to Company Management to effectively manage the business.

External
  • External Auditors, up to partner-in-charge, in connection with taxation issues.
  • Federal Tax Authority.
  • Coordinate with Federal Tax Authority and all Group entities in line with direction provided by VP, Tax.
  • Other local Tax Authorities, when required
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in accounting, Finance or related subject.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • 15 years\xe2\x80\x99 relevant experience in Corporate Tax (or similar direct or indirect tax) at either Big 4 Accounting Firms or within oil and gas industry, and with at least 7+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in positions related to leadership / management.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations as they pertain to the oil and gas sector.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific tax considerations, such as depletion allowances, intangible drilling costs, and cost recovery methods.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex tax codes and regulations specific to the oil and gas industry.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tax projects for various operations.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in tax software and financial management tools used in the oil and gas industry.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tax-related work.
  • Ability to make well-informed decisions independently.
