JOB PURPOSE

To assist the team in implementing strategy, initiatives, regulations and policies for Conventions and Exhibitions section of Conventions Bureau department in-line with the overall Tourism sector and DCT strategy.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key Accountabilities

Abu Dhabi Conventions Bureau Position Abu Dhabi as the premier destination for business events by leveraging the strengths of Abu Dhabi's key industry sectors as well as unique and authentic Abu Dhabi Tourism offerings. Develop and maintain relationships with business events organisers/ associations such as UFI, IAEE, SISO, and relevant MICE stakeholders to develop and promote Abu Dhabi as an attractive destination for business events. Co-ordinate participation in relevant international tradeshows to generate business leads for the destination, and work with channels to promote and drive attendance to business events in Abu Dhabi. Coordinate with internal (DCT) and external (government authorities, institutions, etc) stakeholders to develop and implement the business events strategy for prioritised industry clusters, that will achieve DCT's corporate objectives. Co-ordinate with both internal and external stakeholders to produce compelling bids that would further advance DCT's position in securing the events. Attract and secure best-in-class trade exhibitions and high-profile conferences by pitching to the relevant event owners/ organisers. Develop proposals that are compelling, timely and respond to organisers' needs. Execute the pitching process end-to-end including strategy development, liaison and communications. Implement the Associations Hub, in co-ordination with supporting DCT functions and relevant government authorities, institutions to meet the Conventions Bureau's business needs. Maintain positive relationships and strong links with government and key stakeholders. Work closely with government agencies, international offices and ambassadors on the identification and development of business. Coordinate with Abu Dhabi MICE stakeholders on all conventions and exhibitions opportunities.

Policies, Processes and Procedures Follow all Conventions and Exhibitions section policies, processes, procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Collaboration Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on matters related to Conferences and Exhibitions area in order to facilitate flow of information and also to build awareness in those areas.

Day-to-Day Operations Follow the day-to-day operations set by the Line Manager in the Conventions and Exhibitions section to ensure continuity of work and the delivery of effective and high quality outputs. Report on a regular basis to Conventions and Exhibitions Section Manager on operational activities, challenges, hurdles and methods of resolution or mitigation etc. as required to keep the Line Manager informed and updated about the unit's activities.

EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Comply with all relevant EHS guidelines, policies and procedures, by reporting incidents and hazards on a timely manner, and reduce consumption of natural resources to support in protecting the environment and ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

Change Management Support the creation of culture susceptible to change management through a 'hands-on' and 'can-do' approach to DCT's new business opportunities, participating in the development of new initiatives, meeting planned targets, and demonstrating preferred high-performance behaviours.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES

Qualification (e.g. Academic Qualification, Certifications, Licenses)

Bachelor's degree in Tourism, Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent. Master's Degree in Tourism, Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent preferred. Certificate in Meeting Planning preferred.

Experience

Bachelor Degree Holders: 2 to 4 years of experience in Tourism/MICE/Destination role. OR Post Graduate Holders: 0 to 2 years of experience in Tourism/MICE/Destination role.
