Our Energy, Sustainability & Infrastructure team provides political, strategic and management consultancy to institutions and companies across the energy value chain that aim to support the energy transition. Amongst the topics addressed are the design of policies and the implementation of new technological developments that are needed to equip energy systems with distributed sources such as renewables, storage options and electromobility, increase flexibility between power and fuels, interconnectivity between regions of supply and demand, and emerging services and technologies powered by data resulting from the digitalisation of the energy system. The client segment Energy Providers (EP) serves the classical but fast transforming value chain of energy and utilities companies in GCC. Our existing clients in that segment are, for example, TAQA, DEWA, Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Neom, among others. Our strength lies in strategic understanding of complex energy transition, climate and sustainability issues. The client segment is positioned as the trusted and independent advisor giving strategic advice at corporate decision-making level; the thought leader bringing innovative solutions, from knowledge to insight to impact (help make it happen). Specifically, we serve our clients delivering full lifecycle solutions to transform energy markets, system operations and infrastructure, assets, and technologies for a more sustainable, resilient and secure energy system. Responsibilities As a member of the client segment Energy Providers you will consult clients in various parts of their value chain You will work on diverse assignments that may vary from design for reliability and resiliency, strategic advisory of distribution intelligence, smart grid, hydrogen conversion, large-scale solar and on- and off-shore wind development or market modelling, design and integration You will be responsible for data gathering and analysis, industry research, writing reports, winning tenders, inspiring clients and presenting your findings to the team In this role you will learn, be challenged and develop skills at a fast pace In addition to hands-on experience, formal training programmes will teach you the diverse skills you need to succeed You will contribute to complex projects and will learn about project management by managing smaller projects You are expected to transition rapidly into a professional energy consultant Qualifications University degree with a focus on (energy) economics, (energy) business management, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent experience Preferred first knowledge of power supply systems, grid infrastructure, grid integration of decentralised sources, digitalisation of the energy sector and/or power markets 0-3 years working experience in related fields - you could be graduating, or have a few years of post graduation experience in the energy sector in either consulting or the energy industry. Strong communication, writing and presentation skills Passion for sustainability, innovation and personal development A team-player who demonstrates the willingness and ability to work effectively in diverse teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels A critical thinker with a strong eye for detail and creative in problem solving You are familiar with one or more processes in the utilities value chain - preferably within power transmission and distribution (TSO/DSO) Able to show a working knowledge of data collection, organisational and analytical skills Able to work on multiple projects and show a good understanding of the project objectives and client expectations Comfortable communicating and willing to be coached in presenting to colleagues and potentially clients Experienced with PowerPoint and Excel Willingness to travel internationally where possible Additional Requirements A strong curiosity, and/or experience, in a relevant industry topic such as: sustainability, advanced energy technologies, renewable energy, distributed generation, energy efficiency, electricity generation, power / or gas sales Proven extracurricular activities and/or international experience, preferably with relevant internship or some related work experience As a global company we work with clients primarily in English, fluency in other languages (e.g. German, French, Dutch) is a bonus Disclaimer Guidehouse does not accept unsolicited resumes through or from search firms or staffing agencies.
