We are seeking a talented Computational Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both architecture and computational design, with a passion for pushing the limits of what is possible in the built environment. As a Computational Designer, you will collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop innovative design concepts and solutions using computational tools and algorithms.
Responsibilities:
Utilize computational design software and scripting languages (such as Grasshopper, Rhino, Python, and Dynamo) to generate and optimize architectural designs.
Work closely with architects and engineers to translate design concepts into parametric models and digital prototypes.
Develop custom algorithms and scripts to automate design processes and optimize building performance.
Conduct research and development to explore emerging technologies and computational techniques in architecture and construction.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate computational design solutions into architectural projects from concept to construction.
Communicate complex design concepts and technical solutions to stakeholders through visualizations, presentations, and documentation.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in computational design and digital fabrication.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Proven experience in computational design and parametric modeling, preferably in the architecture or construction industry.
Proficiency in computational design software such as Grasshopper, Rhino, and scripting languages such as Python.
Strong understanding of architectural design principles, building systems, and construction methods.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and develop scalable design solutions for mass production.
Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting manufacturing data to inform design decisions and optimize production processes.
Experience collaborating with manufacturers and suppliers to integrate computational design solutions into mass production workflows.
Familiarity with industry standards and best practices related to mass production, including quality control, cost optimization, and supply chain management.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and oversee the implementation of computational design solutions in large-scale production environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with building information modeling (BIM) software such as Revit.
Familiarity with digital fabrication techniques, including 3D printing, CNC milling, and robotic fabrication.
