The GGGI Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (RO-MENA), based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is is inviting applications for an internship position within the RO-MENA.
The GGGI internship program, also known as the "Grow Green" Program, offers a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
The GGGI RO-MENA is seeking talented and motivated individuals as Communications and Social Media Intern to provide support in program's communication efforts. This opportunity is ideal for those who are passionate about environmental sustainability and wish to gain hands on experience in strategic communication within an International Organization.
The assignment will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

• Work closely with the Communications RO-MENA team/COMs Lead and the COMs Specialists in the Country Offices in the day-to-day implementation of the Communications activities. Participate in the planning and execution of communication plans.
• Support the implementation of a GGGI's branding and visibility actions, contributing to impactful messaging and public engagement.
• Create infographics and other visual content for online and print collaterals, enhancing the understanding and engagement of key audiences.
• Engage in content writing and drafting various forms of communication materials such as press releases, articles, blog posts, social media content, and reports.
• Support the dissemination of information on project progress and results through compelling messaging and visualization across various platforms.
• Provide translation services covering English and Arabic to facilitate broader communication reach.
• Help improve GGGI's branding and support the regular updating of GGGI RO-MENA's social media accounts and webpage.
• Assist in reviewing, editing, and proofreading GGGI knowledge products, technical reports, training, and communication materials in line with GGGI guidelines.
• Stay abreast of research and news relevant to GGGI's areas of work and synthesize key messages for colleagues and key audiences.
• Support COMs around the capacity building activities, outreach, and campaigns, harnessing different media to promote the GGGI RO-MENA actions.
• Manage external and internal communications, ensuring consistent and effective messaging.

The intern will work under the dual supervision of the Regional Director and the RO-MENA Communications Resource Leads. The internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, international environment, working on critical issues related to sustainable development. The intern will have the chance to develop strategic communication skills, understand the functioning of an international organization, and gain insights into the operational aspects of GGGI.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in a Bachelor's (final year) or Master's program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
• Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute's work.
• Must possess legal right to work in the UAE. For international applicants, a valid visa permitting work or internship in the UAE is required.
• Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic or other regional languages is highly advantageous.
• Applicants must be available to commit to the full duration of the internship as agreed upon with the supervising staff.

QUALIFICATION

• Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor's or Master's program in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, as the role involves translation tasks.
• Strong ability to write and draft various forms of communication materials. Creativity and proficiency in story telling techniques is a plus.
• Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management and content creation software. Skills in graphic design and creating visual content (e.g., infographics) are a plus.
• Prior experience in communications, media relations, or content creation is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Strong ability to write and draft various forms of communication materials with an emphasis on harmonizing HQ objectives with regional priorities.
• Ability to map communications workflows and understanding organizational communications needs
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-cultural environments and engage with diverse stakeholders, including Country Communications Officers, Country Representatives, and Project Managers.
• A strong interest in environmental issues, sustainable development, and green growth initiatives.

SELECTION PROCESS

• Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
• GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.
• Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Duration: The internship program is for at least four months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin their internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
• Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
• Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
• Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
• Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
• Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential all unpublished information obtained during the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
• Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
• Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
• Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
• Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
