About this role The Communications and Engagement Associate is the linchpin of the Communications and Engagement team\xe2\x80\x99s project and knowledge management systems. The Communications and Engagement Associate is a project and knowledge management focal point, working to ensure that the Communication and Engagement Team\xe2\x80\x99s coordination and implementation within the Advocacy Arm and across the organization are both effective and efficient. The Associate provides communications and engagement implementation support as needed, to help spark and nourish audience engagement, diversify global narratives, and drive long-lasting change by ensuring our outreach is bold, targeted, and accessible. Building off, and contributing to, our Strategic Vision for 2023-2027, the Associate is a key enabler of Access Now\xe2\x80\x99s \xe2\x80\x9cswiss-army knife\xe2\x80\x9d approach and nimble, rapid response within the Advocacy Arm. The Communications and Engagement Associate sits within the Communications and Engagement team, coordinating and collaborating with colleagues from Policy and International Programs, Campaigns and Rapid Response, and Legal Programmatic, as well as teams across the organisation, to ensure our human rights objectives are surpassed. The Associate reports through the Director - Communications and Engagement - with a dotted line to the Communications and Media Manager - and is likely based in Africa, or the Middle East/North Africa. What you will do
Facilitate the design and implementation of the Communication and Engagement team\xe2\x80\x99s project and knowledge management systems, collaborating closely with the Communications and Media Manager, Design and Creative Production Head, Director of Communication and Engagement, and Senior Editorial Manager
Implement a broad range of communications and engagement tasks with guidance from the Communications and Media Manager
Contribute to the Communications and Engagement team\xe2\x80\x99s strategy development and implementation
Work with team members from across Access Now to plan, prioritise, and streamline communications and engagement initiatives and products
Update and maintain Access Now\xe2\x80\x99s website by uploading content and implementing SEO
Write and edit diverse content for a range of mediums including social media, mass emails, media engagement, and the Access Now website
Lead and support production, rollout, and translation of Access Now publications and outputs
Undertake administrative responsibilities such as monitoring email folders, overseeing team project management tools, supporting event and meeting organisation
Contribute to internal documentation, communication, and training
Explore and pitch new ideas, projects, and approaches in the fight for human rights in the digital era
Assist in the global implementation of the annual RightsCon summit series
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills, education, and mindset you will bring
Two years professional-level work experience in English language communications, project management, or similar role
Native level English, and preferably, fluency in a second language such as Arabic, French, Kiswahili, or Portuguese (depending on location)
Strong internal and external communication and project management skills, paired with cultural sensitivity and openness
Persuasive English writing and editing skills, with the ability to repackage complex ideas into clear, accessible messaging for a variety of audiences
Native user of remote collaboration, communication, planning, and project management tools and methodologies, capable of leading in their use, enabling colleagues to use them, and maximizing their added value
Ability to work remotely in a fast-paced environment, respond quickly to changing situations, and manage competing priorities
A creative and open approach to working, and a curiosity and drive to continual learning
Familiarity with WordPress or other content management tools, social media platforms, and editing and design software, or desire to learn
Appropriate education and work preparation for the role, with bachelor degree equivalent in communication or [project] managemen
The Details Location This is a full-time role. To help strengthen the Communication and Engagement Team\'s global reach, there is high location preference for Africa or the MENA Region. The successful candidate must possess the right to work in the location in which they will be based. At this time most Access Now Team Members are working through hybrid office arrangements, combining remote at-home work with intermittent use of offices and/or co-working spaces. Remuneration Access Now offers competitive compensation and benefits packages that align competitively with locations and regions around the world. Location-specific examples of initial placement within the salary range for this role includes:
Ksh 190,000 KES gross monthly (Kenya)
$1,300 USD gross monthly (Tunisia)
