COMMIS CHEF

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Commis Chef is embarking on a career that revolves around the preparation, cooking and presenting of food. The Commis chef working for our UHNW clients in this VIP environment works with equal passion and curiosity in order to gain the relevant skills and knowledge required to deliver the ultimate culinary experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2-4-year Culinary degree or equivalent formal culinary training
• Level 3 - Food Hygiene & Safety (Supervisors)
• Level 2 \xe2\x80\x93 Allergy Awareness
• Level 2 \xe2\x80\x93 HACCP
• Safe Chemical Handling
• National Police Clearance (Mandatory
• Read and write English with competency
• Knowledge of Indian and Arabic cuisines

EXPERIENCE

• Private chef experience in a VVIP household mandatory
• 3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working in an acclaimed 5* restaurant or hotel.
• International living and working essential

KEY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Genuine passion and hunger to learn all things culinary \xe2\x80\x93 ethic cuisines, raw ingredients, preparation and cooking methods, garnishing and presentation of food.
• Knowledge of culinary terms and techniques
• Able to taste and recognize different flavours
• Working knowledge of HACCP \xe2\x80\x93 or willing to get certified
• Ability to listen and follow instructions
• Advises senior chefs of any issues immediately as they arise
• Assist and monitor the catering cleaning procedures and hygiene practices, according to HACCP requirements.
• Maintain good personal hygiene ensuring that a high standard of personal grooming is adhered to.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is well maintained, regularly checked and to report any problems to the chef in charge for maintenance.
• Report for duty on time and in the correct uniform provided.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOP\xe2\x80\x99s) where implemented at all time.
• Be flexible and willing to help all areas of the kitchen without direction
