Job Description

A commis chef's duties include assisting senior chefs, preparing ingredients, and maintaining kitchen hygiene. Their responsibilities involve tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping produce; measuring ingredients; and cleaning workstations. They also help with food deliveries, stock rotation, and learning basic cooking techniques.

Food preparation and cooking

Prepare ingredients:

Wash, peel, chop, and cut vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients.

Measure ingredients:

Accurately measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.

Assist in cooking:

Help prepare and cook menu items, learning basic techniques like boiling, grilling, and sauteing.

Plate dishes:

Assist with plating and garnishing dishes for service.
Kitchen management and organization

Maintain cleanliness:

Keep the kitchen, workstations, and equipment clean and sanitized.

Manage stock:

Assist with deliveries, check for quality, and rotate stock to ensure freshness and proper inventory.

Maintain hygiene:

Adhere to high standards of hygiene and safety regulations.
Support and learning

Assist senior chefs:

Follow instructions from senior chefs and assist them with their tasks.

Learn new skills:

Learn new cooking techniques and skills, and may be asked to work at different stations.

Handle deliveries:

Help receive and check incoming food deliveries against orders.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED1,500.00 - AED2,000.00 per month
