The Commis Chef's responsibilities include preparing ingredients, assisting with menu preparation, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about food, eager to learn, and able to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare ingredients for the meal service, including washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping.
Follow the guidance of the senior chef in preparing dishes.
Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
Assist with inventory management and kitchen equipment maintenance.
Help with the cleaning and organization of the kitchen and equipment.
Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling knives and kitchen equipment safely
Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience as a Commis Chef, or similar role within a kitchen.
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary vocabulary.
Understanding of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
Great attention to detail and creativity.
Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastry-making process is a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
