The Copper Table Bistro is looking for a skilled and reliable
Commis I
to assist in preparing and presenting dishes in line with our French-Italian menu standards. You will work closely with the CDP/DCDP, maintain your section during service, and uphold hygiene and food safety protocols at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
Prepare ingredients (cutting, chopping, marinating, measuring) for your section as per recipes and instructions.
Cook assigned menu items under supervision, ensuring consistency in taste, portion, and presentation.
Assist in plating and garnishing according to The Copper Table Bistro's standards.
Ensure your section is stocked, clean, and ready before each service.
Mise en Place & Organization
Complete all mise en place ahead of service, following par levels and daily prep sheets.
Follow recipes precisely to ensure consistency in every dish.
Report any shortage of ingredients or equipment to the supervisor immediately.
Hygiene & Safety
Comply with UAE/Sharjah Municipality food safety regulations (HACCP).
Maintain cleanliness of work area, tools, and equipment.
Label and store all food correctly (FIFO) to prevent waste and contamination.
Follow allergen and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
Teamwork & Communication
Work in sync with kitchen team to ensure smooth service.
Support other sections when required during busy periods.
Accept and apply feedback from senior chefs to improve skills.
Requirements
Experience:
1-2 years in a professional kitchen, preferably in French or Italian cuisine.
Knowledge:
Basic cooking techniques, knife handling, and understanding of hot and cold sections.
Certifications:
Food Safety Level 1 or equivalent (Sharjah PIC is an advantage).
Skills:
Ability to work under pressure, follow instructions, and maintain consistency.
Language:
Basic English (Arabic or other languages are a plus).
Physical:
Able to stand for long hours and lift up to 15kg.

Work Schedule
6 days/week, 10 hours/day including breaks (as per UAE labour law).
Flexible with shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
