The Commis Chef - Hot Kitchen is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food items in the hot section of the kitchen. The role requires strong knowledge of hot kitchen operations, consistency in food quality, and adherence to hygiene and safety standards. The candidate must be passionate about cooking, able to work under pressure, and committed to learning and developing culinary skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and cooking of hot dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.
Ensure all food is prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and portion sizes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hot kitchen section at all times.
Properly store ingredients and monitor stock levels to avoid wastage.
Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines strictly.
Assist in receiving and checking deliveries to ensure quality and proper storage.
Work closely with the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Contribute ideas for menu development and special dishes when required.
Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of all hot food items.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chef de Partie or management.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a professional hot kitchen environment.
Strong knowledge of hot kitchen techniques (grilling, roasting, sauteing, frying, braising, etc.).
Basic understanding of international and local cuisines.
Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Knowledge of HACCP and food safety practices.
