G42 Healthcare is committed to developing a world-class, sustainable healthcare sector in the UAE and wider region. At the forefront in the battle against the pandemic, G42 Healthcare partnered with Abu Dhabi authorities to develop a massive throughput laboratory in 14 days and spearheaded the world\xe2\x80\x99s first Phase 3 clinical trial of COVID-19 inactivated vaccine. Beyond Covid-19, G42 Healthcare is also developing a program of activities to support the health of future generations \xe2\x80\x93 ranging from genomics, imaging and diagnostics to digitization programs, manufacturing and cutting-edge research. Responsibilities:
This role participates in data analysis on a number of ongoing projects including: developing and operating data processing pipelines, analyzing complex multi-omics datasets, and developing web applications to facilitate interaction with data.

  • Able to develop, optimize and implement NGS data analysis for clinical diagnostic tests.
  • Exploration, evaluation to identify optimal approaches for analysis of exomic, genomic, +/- transcriptomic data in clinical setting.
  • Performs software compilation including NGS alignment, polymorphism identification, and +/- expression analysis.
  • Extracts and filters variants for pathogenicity and verify them in different available databases like Clinvar and others with variant annotation.
  • Provides and applies bioinformatics analysis for high throughput NGS results.
  • Summarizes data analyses results as first draft of written report.
  • Development of proper quality control, reporting and interpretation to allow DNAseq/ +/ - RNAseq to be interpreted rapidly.
  • Development and implementation of an approach for validation and accreditation of the analyses.
  • Develop and manage workflows to process large datasets such as those generated from nucleic acid sequencing platforms available at the Biogenix Laboratory.
  • Develop software applications to streamline established workflows and provide researchers rapid access to their data and analyses.
  • Analyze complex biological datasets using both established and novel methods.
  • Maintain database records of experimental samples and results.
  • Remain up-to-date about best practices and new technologies relevant to bioinformatics projects at G42.
  • Generate Clinical reports of results and submit and discuss with Clinical Geneticist.
  • Support other researcher efforts, when necessary.
  • Maintain quality in all data analytics, development and service functions of the Biogenix Laboratory and ensure continuous quality improvement measures are in place.
  • Conduct method evaluation/development and benchmarking as per standard policies and procedures to ensure that methods used are performing to international acreditation standards.
  • Participate in implementing and observing ISO and CAP, ACMG standards and ensure maintenance of these standards in all activities.
  • Complying with all safety, health and quality control programs and procedures as applicable.
  • Maintaining the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded.
  • Ensuring that SOP (standard operation procedures) and Quality Assurance tests are maintained within all sections.
  • Ensuring adequate documentation and communication of results, update on progress using approved and benchmarked software.
  • Participating in training and education sessions.
  • Participating in department programs/committees, and staff meetings, where applicable.
  • Maintaining professional knowledge by attending lectures, seminars and on-line education units and creating an environment that encourages continuous learning for the Bioinformatics Team.
  • Completing and maintaining all regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames.
  • Adhere to Best Practices in all data analysis activities and contribute to improving on the content of the document.
    Corresponding Activities performed by the role
    Develop new bioinformatics approaches for analyses of clinical genomics, large-scale genomics datasets and development of new applications.
  • Analyse clinical genomics data and release Clinical Reports to be reviewd and signed by Clinical Geneticist and doctors.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams including software, clinical, operations, research, and product development as assigned by team supervisor.
  • Participate where applicable in the Biogenix Lab\xe2\x80\x99s internal and external scientific research and publications.
  • Designing, data gathering, processing, analysis and generating regular progress reports in the respect area of work and presentation of the results.
  • Test new approaches and and tools, and build tools necessary for the performance of the respective duties.

  • Complying with any regulations related to mentoring, training and development of UAE nationals staff.

Qualifications:
Qualifications and Experience:

Required:
  • Master degree in clinical bioinformatics.
  • Practical experience in a clinical diagnostic setting.
  • Experience with molecular biology, NGS pipelines in the clinical setting including in-depth knowledge of sequence alignment and variant filtering algorithms (including but not limited to samtools, verdict, pindel, Picard).
  • Expertise in building data analysis/bioinformatics pipelines to support NGS data analysis.
  • Skillful in one (or more) commonly used computer languages such as Python, C++, Unix, and R.
  • Experience with high performance and parallel computing.
  • Experience with various NGS platforms and sequencing technologies specially Illumina and BGI.
  • Familiarity with genomics concepts and experience in clinical data analysis (such as variant prioritization and annotation).
  • Must have high communication skills and data extraction and interpretation.
