What Does a Climate Data Analyst Do?
A Climate Data Analyst plays a key role in collecting and analyzing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data across multiple industries. This data-driven role informs corporate sustainability strategy through scenario analysis, emissions modeling, and alignment with global climate disclosure frameworks.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Conduct carbon footprint modeling and scenario analysis to guide decision-making
- Collect, validate, and analyze GHG emissions data from sectors like steel, cement, aviation, power, and petrochemicals
- Identify emissions reduction opportunities and support pathway development
- Align sustainability data reporting with frameworks such as CDP, TCFD, GRI, and ISSB
- Build analytical models to project future emissions and evaluate impact of reduction strategies
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve environmental reporting accuracy
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to communicate progress to leadership and regulators
- Maintain high standards of data quality, consistency, and reporting integrity
- Stay current on climate reporting trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging best practices
What Skills Are Needed for a Climate Analyst Role in Dubai?
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably with exposure to emission-intensive industrial processes
Experience:
- Up to 3 years of professional experience, ideally with exposure to the financial or sustainability sectors
Technical Skills:
- Strong data modeling and analysis capabilities using Python tools
- Advanced Excel and VBA proficiency
- Understanding of emissions-intensive industrial production systems
- Familiarity with global sustainability disclosure frameworks (CDP, GRI, TCFD, ISSB)
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to communicate insights effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders
