Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our dynamic maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all civil engineering aspects of maintenance projects, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and longevity of various building components and infrastructure within our portfolio. This role requires a strong understanding of building codes, maintenance best practices, and effective project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection and Assessment:

Conduct regular on-site inspections of existing civil structures, buildings, and infrastructure to identify maintenance needs, defects, and potential risks (e.g., structural cracks, water damage, paving issues, drainage problems). Perform condition assessments and prepare detailed reports on the structural integrity and overall condition of assets. Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes of civil engineering-related issues.

Maintenance Planning and Execution:

Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for civil assets, including scheduled inspections, repairs, and upgrades. Plan, organize, and manage corrective maintenance works, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of issues. Prepare scope of works, specifications, and bill of quantities (BOQ) for various civil maintenance tasks. Oversee and supervise maintenance teams and external contractors, ensuring work is performed to high standards, on schedule, and within budget. Monitor the progress of maintenance projects and prepare regular reports for management.

Technical Expertise & Problem Solving:

Provide expert civil engineering advice and solutions for complex maintenance challenges. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to civil structures, foundations, retaining walls, pavements, drainage systems, facades, and other building elements. Propose innovative and cost-effective solutions for repairs, renovations, and upgrades. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards (e.g., Dubai Municipality regulations, international codes).

Project Management & Coordination:

Manage resources effectively, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to optimize maintenance operations. Coordinate with other departments (e.g., MEP, facilities management, operations) to ensure integrated maintenance solutions. Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities as required. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and material consumption.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures on all maintenance sites. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to ensure a safe working environment. Promote a strong safety culture among the maintenance team and contractors.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized university. 4 years of proven experience as a Civil Engineer, with significant experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or civil infrastructure maintenance. Strong knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Dubai/UAE. Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software. Excellent understanding of structural analysis, materials science, and construction techniques. Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Valid UAE Driving License is preferred.

Desired Attributes:

Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus. Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Familiarity with sustainable building practices and energy efficiency in maintenance.
