Civil Inspector - Stormwater and Microtunneling Projects - AECOM - Dubai, UAE
Position Overview
AECOM is seeking an experienced Civil Inspector to support major stormwater drainage and microtunneling infrastructure projects in Dubai. This role is responsible for on-site supervision and inspection of civil works to ensure all activities are executed in line with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and local authority requirements. The position plays a key role in maintaining construction quality, safety, and compliance across complex infrastructure works.

Key Responsibilities
Review and apply all relevant codes, standards, and project specifications related to stormwater drainage and microtunneling works, including pipelines, shafts, chambers, culverts, and outfalls
Carry out daily inspection of civil construction activities to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings, method statements, and specifications
Monitor excavation, shoring, backfilling, microtunneling drives, shaft construction, reinforcement installation, concrete works, waterproofing, and finishing activities
Verify alignment, gradients, and levels for stormwater pipelines, chambers, and manholes to ensure adherence to design requirements
Ensure contractor activities comply with Dubai Municipality, RTA, and other authority standards, as well as approved quality control procedures
Record and report daily manpower deployment, equipment usage, and material deliveries on site
Supervise concrete curing, coating, and lining works associated with stormwater structures
Assist the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions and verifying contractor responses and close-out actions
Coordinate with contractors to resolve civil works issues and monitor implementation of corrective measures
Prepare daily inspection reports including observations, progress updates, test results, and safety notes
Support survey verification for pipe routes, invert levels, tolerances, and structural positioning
Assist with testing, commissioning, and handover of stormwater networks and related civil works
Review RFIs, method statements, and variance requests related to civil construction activities
Coordinate with client representatives and authority inspectors during site inspections and document findings
Maintain organized records of inspections, NCRs, test results, as-built information, and executed works
Ideal Profile
Bachelor's degree or diploma in civil engineering
Minimum 7 years of experience in construction supervision and inspection of sewerage, stormwater, irrigation, and related infrastructure works
At least 3 years of relevant experience within the UAE
Strong familiarity with Dubai Municipality and RTA requirements
In-depth knowledge of sewerage, drainage, stormwater, and irrigation networks in Dubai
