The purpose of this position is to supervise and lead a number of Building & Structure Maintenance Teams to provide effective engineering and maintenance covering the building structures of stations, depots, system ancillary buildings, sub-stations, cutting embankments and walls, tunnels, car parks, signage and related ground level infrastructure for Dubai Metro.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and give guidance to a number of Building & Structure Maintenance teams and subcontractors to carry out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance activities and minor modifications in building structures of stations, depots, system ancillary buildings, sub-stations, cutting embankments and walls, tunnels, car parks, signage and related ground level infrastructure.
• Plan and allocate resources to all aspects of maintenance activities on a day-to-day basis.
• Carry out maintenance activities out in field on safety critical problem of building and structure where required.
• Follow the appropriate procedures and work instructions of maintenance to ensure compliance with the requirements.
• Assist subordinates with the job familiarization and to provide training and assessment where required.
• Assist Building and Structure Manager in maintenance planning and program building structure maintenance works.
• Give guidance to Building Structure Maintenance Team Leaders to maintain accurate records of building and structure maintenance works accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
• Carry out 24-hour on-call responsibility for incidents and emergency within its section.
• Assist the Building & Structure Manager or other technical support staff to implement complex systems or new projects.
• Conduct performance review, disciplinary and grievance for Building & Structure Inspectors and Building & Structure Maintenance Team Leaders.
• Conduct disciplinary and grievance for Building & Structure Inspectors, Building & Structure Maintenance Team Leaders and Building & Structure Technicians.
• Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
• Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty.
• Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the Building & Structure Manager.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• Working knowledge of the strength of reinforced concrete, structural masonry and structural steel inspections, foundation testing, and corrosion studies.

KEY SKILLS

• Thorough understanding of the use, calibration and care of various electronic test equipment and ability to interpret instructions in a variety of written, verbal, pictorial forms in order to carry out the maintenance activities as required.
• Ability to compile technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
• Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Experience in operating mobile boom, scaffolding and etc.
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Holder of a valid UAE driving license with a good driving skill and experience.

EXPERIENCE

• Preferably with minimum of 2 years relevant working experience in the maintenance of buildings and structures activities, such as building maintenance works implementation and review.
• Preferably with 3 years of supervisory and management experience in supervising a team of Building & Structure Inspectors to carry out the building and structural inspection activities and / or with minimum of 2 years working experience as Building & Structure Maintenance Team Leader to carry out maintenance activities;
• Experience in supervising outsourced building structure maintenance subcontractors.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFCATION

• Higher diploma in civil engineering discipline or equivalent.
