Chiller Technician
Job Summary:
A Chiller Technician specializes in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial and commercial centrifugal, screw, and absorption chiller systems. This role requires deep expertise in refrigeration cycles and associated components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on chiller systems (e.g., oil analysis, refrigerant checks, tube cleaning).
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical problems within chiller systems.
- Recover, evacuate, charge, and leak test refrigerant in accordance with EPA regulations.
- Service and repair components including compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform corrective repairs.
- Maintain detailed service reports for all work performed.
- HVAC/R certification and EPA Universal Certification for handling refrigerants.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically working on large tonnage chiller systems.
- Extensive knowledge of refrigeration theory, electrical controls, and building management systems (BMS).
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
