Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Dual-Role Chiller Technician and Driver to join our dynamic team. This unique position combines expert technical skills in maintaining and repairing refrigeration and chiller systems with the crucial responsibility of transporting equipment, tools, and parts to various job sites. The ideal candidate is a proficient technician with a strong engineering mindset and a safe driving record.
Key Responsibilities
A. Chiller Technician Duties (Primary):

• Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on commercial and industrial chiller systems (air-cooled, water-cooled, absorption).
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical faults in refrigeration circuits, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems.
• Conduct performance tests and checks on chillers, including temperature, pressure, flow rates, and refrigerant levels.
• Recover, evacuate, charge, and leak-test refrigerants in accordance with EPA and local regulations.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics to effectively service equipment.
• Complete detailed service reports and maintenance logs for each job.
• Manage and handle refrigerants and other HVAC supplies stored on the company vehicle.

B. Driver & Logistics Duties (Secondary but Essential):

• Safely operate and maintain a company service van.
• Transport tools, equipment, and parts to and from job sites in a timely and efficient manner.
• Plan daily routes to optimize service calls and ensure punctuality.
• Manage the van inventory, ensuring all necessary parts and tools are stocked and organized.
• Perform basic daily vehicle checks (e.g., oil, fuel, tires) and report any maintenance issues.
• Assist in the delivery and pick-up of equipment as needed.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and company driving policies at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

• Essential:
• Proven experience (min. 2-3 years) as a Chiller Technician, HVAC/R Technician, or a similar role.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. A commercial driver's license (CDL) may be required for larger vehicles.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification for handling refrigerants is mandatory.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with brazing, soldering, and piping.
• Highly Preferred (as mentioned in your query):
• Experience in managing, servicing, and troubleshooting storage and refrigeration systems (e.g., walk-in coolers/freezers, display cases, cold rooms).
• A formal engineering background, such as a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics. Significant relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.

• Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of HVAC/R systems, refrigeration cycles, and electrical controls.

• Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy equipment (50+ lbs), work at heights, and in various environmental conditions.
• Organization: Excellent organizational skills to manage van inventory, tools, and paperwork.
• Communication: Good verbal communication skills to interact with clients and report to management.
• Reliability: Punctual, trustworthy, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions

• This is a field-based role requiring 100% travel to client sites.
• Work hours may vary and include overtime or on-call duties for emergency repairs.
