. As the second-in-command on board, the Chief Officer is responsible for assisting the Master in the safe operation of the vessel, overseeing deck crew, and managing cargo and stability operations.
The successful candidate must have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of maritime safety procedures, and the ability to supervise day-to-day vessel operations while ensuring full compliance with ADNOC and international maritime regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Master in vessel operations, navigation, and compliance.
Manage the deck department, including planning and supervising daily tasks for the crew.
Ensure the safe handling, loading, and discharge of cargo, as well as ballast operations.
Monitor vessel stability, drafts, and ensure compliance with load line and safety regulations.
Conduct safety drills, equipment inspections, and participate in audits.
Maintain deck maintenance plans and ensure proper recordkeeping.
Enforce adherence to ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other international maritime conventions.
Liaise with offshore clients, port authorities, and company operations team as required.
Take over command of the vessel in the absence of the Master.
Requirements:
Valid
STCW Chief Mate (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency (CoC)
- II/2.
Valid STCW certificates (Advanced Firefighting, Medical Care, GMDSS, etc.).
Minimum 24 months of experience as Chief Officer on similar offshore or merchant vessels.
Solid knowledge of vessel stability, deck operations, cargo handling, and maritime safety.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficient in English (spoken and written).
ADNOC approval or previous experience operating in Abu Dhabi waters is preferred.
