2. Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
The Chief Communication Platforms Business Officer (CCPBO) will take full P&L ownership, drive the entire value chain of a multi-million USD strategic Wholesale Mobile Connectivity business unit, and deliver revenue, profit, customer experience, and new product targets across all service lines. S/he will lead from the front a highly skilled group of sales, presales, commercial, product, and business operations experts who are responsible for the commercialization of Bayobab's Y'ello Connect platform infrastructure.
The CCPBO will 'own' (i.e., be held fully accountable for) all aspects of strategy, management, people and performance of wholesale international voice, messaging, signaling, IPX, roaming, and digital identity business lines.
CCPBO drives international business revenue & margin targets, continuously identifying business opportunities for growth, through mean areas of:
Sales Management: provide leadership and be the driving force for growth hacks.
Commercial Management: Energise new service launches, expand Bayobab Connect Hub footprint coverage, and deliver high NPS.
Operations Management: maximise revenue generation through higher reliability of MTN's state-of-the-art platforms & network, cutting across Cost, Rate, Route, Monitor and Invoice functions.
People Management: Collaborate & support the wider team by providing deep insights on the carrier industry landscape, training for skills and delivering work-life balance.
Bayobab has successfully built a growing wholesale carrier business across fixed and mobility business lines, where consolidation across International Voice, Messaging, Signaling, Roaming and Value-Added Services has become critical for commercial and operational excellence. This function must therefore ensure successful delivery in the context of:
MTN's position as the best international mobile and roaming connectivity provider in Africa and the Middle East
MTN's decision to centralise the commercial and technical management of all international cross-border traffic, including Roaming, interconnect Voice, SMS, Signaling and VAS.
Responsibility to keep track of global trends and advancements and stay abreast of standardization work of relevant industry bodies.
Demystify complex requirements from multiple internal and external stakeholders and translate them to deliverable projects to support business growth.
Drive Sales, Commercial, and Product Strategy.
Drive Operational excellence, achievement of top quartile operating efficiency and effectiveness through scale and common processes.
Evaluate & review market pricing, wholesale & roaming alliances/partnerships, ensuring best-in-class quality and commercial rates.
Collaborate with a highly interconnected international telecommunications community.
Drive initiatives in line with the Group and OpCo company's business requirements.
Solid understanding and exposure to wholesale billing platforms, clearing, settlements, and negotiations.
Be cognizant of the geographic complexity and competitiveness of MTN's Africa & ME footprint.
Be cognizant of the multiple regulatory regimes across diverse jurisdictions and cultures
