Chemist
Job Description
Perform chemical identification, segregation, and compatibility checks of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
Conduct sampling and analytical testing (e.g., pH, flash point, metals, solvents) to properly characterize waste.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for manifests, waste profiles, and regulatory reporting.
Ensure all waste handling, labeling, and storage meet applicable environmental regulations and internal procedures.
Coordinate with waste disposal vendors and transporters for timely and compliant waste removal.
Support emergency response and spill cleanup operations when required.
Provide technical support and training to facility staff regarding waste minimization and safe chemical management.
Monitor accumulation areas and conduct routine inspections of waste storage sites.
Assist in environmental audits and compliance reviews.
Keep current with new environmental regulations and emerging best practices.
