Description :

As an Indian restaurant chef assistant, your main responsibility is to assist the head chef in preparing, cooking, and presenting Indian food items for service. You will be working closely with the chef and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Responsibilities:

Food Preparation: Assist the head chef in preparing food items, including chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and marinating meats. Follow recipes and portion guidelines accurately to maintain consistency.

Kitchen Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at all times. Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment. Dispose of waste properly and maintain a high standard of hygiene.

Cooking: Assist the head chef by cooking and seasoning food items as per the recipes. Work with the chef to monitor the cooking process to ensure that food is being prepared to the required standard.

Stock Management: Receive and store food ingredients and supplies appropriately. Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and alerting the chef or supervisor when items need to be replenished.

Dishwashing and Cleaning: Wash dishes, pots, and pans by hand or using the dishwasher. Ensure all utensils are properly cleaned and sanitized. Maintain cleanliness in food preparation and storage areas.

Assist During Service: Support the kitchen staff during service by restocking supplies and ingredients, refilling condiments, and helping with plating and garnishing dishes as instructed by the chefs.

Follow Health and Safety Standards: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handling and storage of food, regular handwashing, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Collaboration: Work closely with the head chef and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely preparation of dishes. Communicate effectively and manage priorities to meet service demands.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience as an Indian restaurant chef assistant or related role is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Indian cuisine and cooking techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as required.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
