We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient
Category Buyer - Electrical Engineer (Batteries)
to manage procurement activities and strategic sourcing for the battery category. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, battery technologies (e.g., lithium-ion, solid-state), and vendor management. This role bridges the gap between technical battery specifications and commercial procurement strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Management:
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for the battery category, aligned with business goals.
Monitor market trends, cost drivers, and supplier capabilities in the battery industry.
Technical Sourcing:
Evaluate and qualify suppliers based on technical capabilities, performance, and compliance with specifications.
Collaborate with engineering teams to translate technical requirements into sourcing criteria.
Supplier Management:
Manage supplier relationships including negotiations, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Drive cost savings, quality improvements, and lead-time reductions.
Contract Management:
Lead RFQs, RFPs, and contract negotiations.
Ensure contracts meet legal, technical, and commercial requirements.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to support new product development and industrialization.
Provide input into the design-for-cost and design-for-manufacture processes.
Sustainability & Compliance:
Ensure battery materials sourcing meets sustainability and regulatory standards (e.g., REACH, RoHS, UN 38.3).
Support responsible sourcing initiatives, including battery recycling and circular economy programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in
Electrical Engineering
,
Electrochemistry
, or related field.
Minimum
3-5 years
of experience in procurement/supply chain, preferably in batteries or electrical components.
Strong technical knowledge of
battery chemistries
(Li-ion, NiMH, LFP, etc.) and manufacturing processes.
Experience in working with
Tier 1/Tier 2 battery suppliers
or OEMs.
Proven negotiation skills and understanding of global sourcing strategies.
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
