Job Description

De Montfort University (DMU) Dubai is seeking a reliable, service-oriented

Cash Desk Officer

to join our Finance team. This front-facing role is critical in managing day-to-day payment transactions, supporting students and parents with financial queries, and ensuring compliance with the university's cash handling procedures.
The successful candidate will play a key role in processing tuition payments, issuing receipts, reconciling daily transactions, and supporting students through clear communication and accurate financial documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Payment Processing & Documentation

Accurately process payments (cash, card, cheque) for tuition fees and other services. Issue receipts for all transactions and maintain a comprehensive record. Prepare and provide proforma invoices and structured payment plans.

Cash Desk Operations & Reconciliation

Manage daily cash inflows and outflows. Reconcile all payment methods at the end of each shift. Ensure timely bank deposits and prepare daily cash reports. Escalate unresolved discrepancies as needed.

Customer Service & Student Support

Handle payment-related inquiries from students and parents. Provide information on payment options, outstanding balances, and deadlines. Respond to finance-related emails and phone calls promptly and professionally. Assist postgraduate students with tuition-related queries during evening shifts.

Cross-Departmental Coordination

Collaborate with teams such as Admissions, Visa, and Student Advice Centre. Provide finance support during Open Days, assisting prospective students and families with clear tuition fee guidance.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (essential).

Minimum 2-3 years

of relevant experience in cash handling, accounts receivable, or finance operations (preferably in the education sector). Proven experience in finance operations, preferably in the education or service sector. Strong understanding of accounts receivable, cash handling, and reconciliation processes. Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP). Effective communication skills with the ability to explain financial processes to a wide range of audiences. High attention to detail, integrity in handling financial transactions, and strong organizational skills. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple queries under pressure.
