to join a Polytechnic University in Fiji. The successful candidate will train students in modern and traditional carpentry techniques, including construction, finishing, and woodwork safety. This position is key to supporting Fiji's technical education goals and preparing students for employment in the construction and building sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide theoretical and practical instruction in carpentry, including blueprint reading, framing, roofing, and finishing.
Deliver training aligned with the national competency-based TVET framework.
Supervise and mentor students in workshop settings and on construction-based projects.
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental practices.
Develop and update training materials, manuals, and assessment tools.
Evaluate student competencies through practical and written assessments.
Maintain carpentry tools, machinery, and workshop safety protocols.
Engage with local industry to ensure training relevance and potential job placements.
Qualifications & Experience:
Certificate or Diploma in Carpentry, Construction, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in residential or commercial carpentry.
Prior teaching, training, or mentorship experience preferred.
Knowledge of OHS regulations and modern construction practices.
Strong organizational and instructional skills.
TVET Trainer Certification or commitment to obtain one upon employment.
