Job Description

Carpenter builds, installs, and dismantles temporary structures for events, trade shows, and exhibitions, working from blueprints to create custom display stands, stages, and other event infrastructure. Key responsibilities include fabricating and assembling components, managing materials, ensuring structural integrity and safety, and collaborating with designers and project managers, often under tight deadlines.

Core responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints:

Accurately read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and design sketches to fabricate and assemble structures.

Fabricate and construct:

Build and assemble wooden structures like display stands, booths, stages, and custom-designed elements.

Measure and cut materials:

Precisely measure and cut materials to meet the specifications of the design.

Install and dismantle:

Efficiently and safely install temporary structures on-site and dismantle them after the event within the given timeline.

Ensure quality and safety:

Ensure all work meets high standards of quality, precision, and safety, and that the final structures are both structurally sound and visually appealing.

Collaborate with teams:

Work closely with designers, project managers, and other team members to understand project requirements and bring the vision to life.

Manage materials:

Determine material requirements and may assist in managing inventory and ordering.

Problem-solve:

Address challenges that arise in a fast-paced environment, often with tight deadlines, such as rework or site-specific issues.
Key skills and qualifications

Proven experience in carpentry, preferably within the exhibition or event industry. Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Skilled in using carpentry tools and machinery. Excellent craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Flexibility and problem-solving skills. Physical fitness for manual labor. 2 to 3 years of experience.
