Carpenter

is a skilled tradesperson who constructs, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures made primarily from wood, but also other materials like drywall or metal studs. Carpenters work on residential, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic quality.

Key Responsibilities

Blueprint Interpretation

: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to plan projects.,

Measurement & Cutting

: Measure, cut, shape, and smooth wood and other materials using hand and power tools.

Construction

: Build frameworks such as walls, floors, roofs, staircases, and doorframes.

Installation

: Install doors, windows, cabinetry, shelving, flooring, and decorative trim.

Repair & Maintenance

: Inspect and replace damaged structures or fixtures.

Material Selection

: Choose appropriate lumber and other materials based on size, strength, and budget.

Safety Compliance

: Adhere to building codes and health and safety regulations.

Collaboration

: Work with architects, designers, and other construction professionals.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

: Proficiency in woodworking, framing, finishing, and use of tools (saws, drills, sanders).

Mathematical Ability

: Accurate calculation of measurements, angles, and material needs.

Physical Strength & Dexterity

: Ability to handle heavy materials and perform precise tasks.

Education

: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training.

Preferred Experience

3-4 years in carpentry or related construction roles. Familiarity with specialized carpentry techniques (e.g., finish carpentry, cabinetry). Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and building codes.
