Job Description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Career Services Officer is responsible for providing Student development activities and services to students to enhance their employability skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Developing, planning and implementing career policies and procedures.
  • Working closely with students, graduates, faculty and administration to ensure a high level of successful placement outcomes and to meet the overall AU mission that every student will graduate career ready.
  • Working with colleagues to ensure students have externship sites identified prior to externship need, all paperwork is completed in a timely manner to meet accreditation standards, and students are placed based on skill sets and employer needs.
  • Developing partnerships with various private and governmental corporations.
  • Posting job openings.
  • Following-up on student employment and provides employers with on-site scheduling and plan visits.
  • Conducting and analyzing students\' and employers\' surveys.
  • Planning, organizing and implementing career events in cooperation with local business/industries.
  • Coordinating pre-employability and employability skills training programs i.e. CV writing, job search process, job interview, and workplace ethics.
  • Organizing classroom presentation and workshops on career development strategies.
  • Contacting schedule and plan corporate/governmental guest speakers to provide information on potential positions for internship and/or job placement.
  • Prospecting and contacting potential employers for internship and job placement and provide assistance and support for intern and graduated students.
  • Attending meetings, fairs and conferences related to career and job market trends.
  • Demonstrating complete working knowledge of compliance with federal, state, and regulatory agency regulations and company policies at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the direct manager.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor degree in relevant field
  • Five years\' experience of previous experience in Career Services and Career Counseling.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of job application process, interview procedures, and resume writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents of the Career Center; i.e., students from diverse backgrounds, college administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Requires excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment as well as to manage multiple, on-ongoing programs and services.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer services skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment, which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements. The position may entail work after duty hours, on weekends, holidays and in emergency (i.e. may be subject to \xe2\x80\x9con-call\xe2\x80\x9d responsibilities).
