As part of this expansion, the client is seeking to recruit

two qualified Electrical, Communication Network & Telemetry CAD Draftsmen

on a

long-term contractual basis

.

Role Overview

The Electrical, Communication Network & Telemetry CAD Draftsman will be part of the

Automation & Telemetry Design team

, responsible for converting complex electrical, communication, and telemetry system designs into accurate, high-quality technical drawings. The role supports efficient system implementation, compliance with international standards, and reliable long-term operation of

remote monitoring, data acquisition, and control systems

.

Key Responsibilities

Telemetry & Automation Drafting

Prepare detailed schematics and layouts for

RTUs, PLCs, data loggers, sensors, and instrumentation

used in telemetry and automation systems. Develop electrical and control drawings supporting remote monitoring and control applications.

Electrical Design for Remote Sites

Produce electrical schematics, power distribution diagrams, and control panel layouts for

remote and unmanned telemetry stations

. Design power systems including

solar power solutions, battery backups, UPS, and 48VDC systems

.

Communication Network Design

Create comprehensive communication network drawings for telemetry data transmission, including: Communication equipment cubicle designs Network infrastructure layouts Rack elevations and connectivity diagrams for

SCADA and control rooms

Engineering Coordination

Collaborate closely with telemetry engineers, network architects, and system integrators to interpret design intent and translate specifications into precise CAD drawings.

Standards & Compliance

Ensure all drawings comply with applicable

electrical codes (IEC, NEC, NEMA)

,

communication standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI)

,

industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA)

, and internal drafting standards.

Documentation & Revisions

Maintain an organized and up-to-date repository of drawings, revisions, and project documentation. Update drawings based on red-line markups, design changes, and as-built information, incorporating field feedback accurately.

Bill of Materials (BOM)

Support preparation and verification of BOMs for electrical, communication, and telemetry components.

Quality & Coordination

Conduct self-checks and peer reviews to ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of telemetry designs into overall project deliverables.

Continuous Improvement

Stay updated with advancements in CAD tools, drafting techniques, and industry best practices related to electrical, communication, and telemetry systems.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree or Technical Diploma in

Electrical Drafting, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, Industrial Automation

, or a related discipline. Bachelor's degree in

Electrical Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering

is an added advantage.

Experience

3-5 years

of experience as a CAD Draftsman with strong exposure to

electrical, communication network, and telemetry systems

. Proven hands-on experience in drafting for:

SCADA/DCS systems, RTUs, PLCs, and industrial instrumentation

Remote data acquisition and control systems Wireless communication systems (radio, cellular, satellite) Power solutions for remote installations Industry exposure in

utilities, oil & gas, environmental monitoring, smart cities, or transportation

is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

CAD Tools:

Advanced proficiency in

AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical

, or equivalent software.

Network & Telemetry Tools:

Experience with AutoCAD, Visio, or specialized network drafting tools; familiarity with SCADA/HMI graphical layouts is a plus.

Electrical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of electrical circuits, symbols, wiring practices, power distribution, and low-voltage control systems.

Communication Networks:

Knowledge of network topologies, structured cabling (Cat 5e/6/6A, fiber optics), IP networking fundamentals, and wireless technologies (UHF/VHF, 4G/5G, satellite).

Protocols:

Familiarity with

IEC 104, Modbus (RTU/TCP), DNP3, OPC UA

, and other SCADA/PLC protocols.

Instrumentation:

Basic understanding of sensors, signal conditioning, and instrumentation wiring.

Standards:

Awareness of

IEC 60617, ANSI/IEEE, NFPA 70

TIA/EIA-568, TIA/EIA-569

, and

BICSI TDMM

guidelines.

Software:

Proficiency in

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Predominantly office-based role using advanced CAD workstations. Occasional site visits to remote or industrial locations for verification and as-built documentation. Standard working hours, with flexibility for extended hours during critical project phases.
