Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Product Sourcing & Selection

Research and identify new products that align with market trends (especially in toys, collectibles, pop culture, etc.), and customer preferences. Source products locally and internationally with a focus on trending items, exclusives, and unique offerings.

Supplier & Vendor Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and exclusivity deals. Evaluate supplier performance regularly.

Forecasting & Inventory Planning

Analyze sales trends and market data to forecast demand. Plan purchases according to category performance, upcoming campaigns, and stock levels. Ensure optimal inventory turnover and reduce slow-moving stock.

Budget Management

Work within allocated purchasing budgets for each category. Monitor cost of goods sold (COGS) and maintain/improve profit margins.

Collaboration with Key Departments

Work closely with retail, e-commerce, product, and marketing teams to ensure product availability and alignment with promotions and launches. Coordinate with visual merchandising to ensure proper in-store presentation.

Market & Competitor Analysis

Stay up-to-date on global and regional trends in collectibles, toys, lifestyle, and novelty items. Benchmark competitors and identify whitespace opportunities.

Product Life Cycle Management

Monitor product performance and manage end-of-life strategy for underperformers. Work with the team to clear aging inventory through sales, bundles, or repackaging.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Strong negotiation and analytical skills Proven experience in retail buying, Ideally for pop-culture categories. Excellent knowledge of market trends and consumer behavior Strong vendor network and sourcing knowledge. Data-driven decision-making abilities Great communication and interpersonal skills High attention to detail and organization Proficiency in Excel
