Role Overview

The

BIM / CAD Specialist

supports the successful delivery of

Building Information Modeling (BIM),

Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and Information Management

outputs across all design stages of the

Roads &

infrastructure projects

, including Concept, Preliminary, and Detailed Design.


The role is responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating both 2D and 3D deliverables in compliance with

ISO 19650

,

PWA BIM Standards

,

Parsons Digital Delivery requirements

, and discipline-specific modeling and drafting procedures.


This position works closely with

Design Managers, BIM Coordinators, and Engineers

to ensure information integrity, model accuracy, and CAD drawing compliance across

Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)

and

ProjectWise

environments.

What You'll Be Doing: (Key Responsibilities)

1. BIM Modeling and Coordination

Develop and maintain discipline-specific

3D models

using Autodesk tools (

Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks

). Ensure model structure follows

ISO 19650-compliant file naming conventions

, attributes, and classification codes. Support model federation activities, performing

clash detection

and coordination in

Navisworks Manage

or

ACC Model Coordination

. Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve geometric, design, and data-related issues. Incorporate

4D/5D attributes

(scheduling and cost) in models as directed by the Digital Delivery Manager. Maintain

LOD/LOI consistency

based on the PWA EIR (v5.0) and project-specific BEP.

2. CAD Drafting and Documentation

Produce

2D drawings, schematics, and layouts

derived from BIM models and/or standalone CAD drafting. Prepare

plan, section, elevation, profile, and detail drawings

in accordance with

Project CAD standards

and

BIM standards

. Manage

Xrefs, external references, and data shortcuts

in Civil 3D and AutoCAD. Ensure

layer naming, line weights, colors, and annotation styles

comply with

Parsons and PWA CAD templates

. Update and maintain

drawing registers

and

revision history

in the CDE. Perform

QA/QC checks

on drawings prior to submission (Content Check Shared Published).

3. Common Data Environment (CDE) and Information Management

Upload, manage, and version models and drawings in

Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and ProjectWise ISO19650

under the correct state (

WIP, Shared, Published, Archive

). Follow

workflow and approval processes

established in ACC and PW for ISO 19650 compliance. Ensure metadata attributes (Title, Discipline, Suitability Code, Revision, Status, etc.) are properly assigned. Support the

Task Information Delivery Plan (TIDP)

population and link deliverables to the

Master Information Delivery Plan (MIDP)

. Coordinate with the

Information Manager

for data validation, workflow approval, and document control integration.

4. Standards, Templates, and Libraries

Maintain and update discipline

CAD and BIM templates

,

symbol libraries

, and

content families

in coordination with the Digital Delivery Team (DDT). Use and manage shared content via

Avail

,

Omnix Catalogue

, and

Clarity

platforms. Apply

Uniclass 2015 / Omniclass classification

systems and

COBie parameters

when required.

5. Collaboration and Support

Provide

technical support and guidance

to design teams on CAD/BIM tools and workflows. Assist in

model federation

clash resolution

, and

interdisciplinary coordination

. Support model health checks, cleanup, and optimization of large Civil 3D or Revit files. Collaborate with other BIM/CAD Specialists across task orders to maintain consistency of standards and deliverables.

6. Quality Assurance and Reporting

Perform

QA/QC audits

on both 2D drawings and 3D models. Support preparation of

BIM Progress Reports

QA Checklists

, and

Federated Model reports

. Ensure deliverables align with

Parsons Digital Delivery Plan

BEP

Project EIR requirements

What Required Skills You'll Bring: (Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree

or

Diploma

in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline. Minimum

5 years of relevant experience

in BIM and CAD for infrastructure or multidisciplinary projects. Strong proficiency in

Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks

, and

BIM 360 / ACC

. Working knowledge of

ISO 19650 standards

and

PWA BIM/CAD Standards

. Familiarity with

ProjectWise

,

Synchro

, or

CostOS

is an advantage. Experience with

InfraWorks, Dynamo, or GIS-BIM integration

is beneficial.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring: (Key Competencies)

Excellent technical knowledge of both

2D CAD and 3D BIM authoring tools

. Strong understanding of

file naming, layering, and metadata standards

. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deliverables across several task orders. Collaborative approach and effective communication across disciplines. Proactive in troubleshooting and supporting team members on BIM/CAD tools and workflows.

Certifications

Autodesk Certified Professional (Revit / Civil 3D / AutoCAD / Navisworks). ISO 19650 Information Management (BRE / BSI Certified). BIM Management Diploma or equivalent certification (Zigurat, BRE, RICS, etc.).
